support group??
Does anyone know of a RNY support group that meets in St. Louis or southern IL? I'm from Belleville and lookin for a meeting within 20-30 min from home - I'm not too sure what to expect with a support group, never been to one for anything (so what happens?)

Support Groups are awesome!!! NOt only do you meet new friends but it's very comforting to be able to talk openly about the issues we have as weight loss surgery patients. It's nice to know that you're not the only one going through certian things. Some support groups are structured and led by a dr or someone from the drs office. And then there are some that are just open forum and we talk about whatever issues or concerns that people are having. I don't know of any in st louis but I'm sure if you ask your surgeons office they will have a list for you to choose from. I hope you find one they are so awesome. Best of luck!!!

I sincerely hope you have some luck finding a support group up there! They are very benificial when you are going through such a life changing event. As with your weight - your emotions tend to fluctuate like the Illinois/Missouri weather!!! One minute up the next down. It is always great to have a local group to be able to share things with.
I am some what jealous of you already though - you see I grew up at Scot AFB and I still have a sister & brother living in Belleville and a sis in Mascoutah (where I went to school from K-11 grades)
All the best to you and hopefully you will be able to find a local group or if you find others who are going through this lifestyle change as well - just meet for coffee/tea and chat! That is generally how groups begin anyway.
