Daily Bible Reading - Monday March 30th
In Luke today I really love the story of the woman who had been sick for twelve years and had such faith to find Jesus and to reach out and touch Him to get her healing. She had faith enough and knew if she could just touch His garment that she would be healed instantly. When she did work her way through the crowd, that must have been tough with the huge crowds that gathered around Jesus, I can just see her reaching as far as she could through everyone and just barely grabbing Jesus’ garment. When she did it says Jesus instantly felt the power go out of Him, He knew someone had touched Him and was healed. He immediately said “Who touched me?" Peter said to him it was impossible to know because the whole crowd was pressing up against them but Jesus knew when He saw her and then told her that her faith had made her whole to go in peace. That story just thrills my heart every time I read it, if that woman can have enough faith to be healed of her affliction she had suffered for twelve years then surely we can have just half that faith to see our problems and things taken care of by God. The bible says that if we just have faith the size of a mustard seed that the mountains in our lives HAVE to obey us. Do you know how big a mustard seed is? Not very big at all, in fact its one of the smallest seeds there is, so that’s not very much faith at all and yet with that little of faith we can tell the mountains in our lives to get behind us. So I say to myself, if the woman with a twelve year sickness can do it then surely we can.

Ephesians 5:15-16
“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days"
Time is the most valuable commodity in life that we have. It’s more valuable than money. You can make more money, but you can’t make more time. When you woke up this morning, God gave you a present called “today." And with that gift comes a responsibility. The Scripture tells us to redeem the time, to make the most of every opportunity. That simply means don’t let it go to waste. Don’t live this day unfocused, unhappy, negative, or defeated. Make the most of every day. God has entrusted you with His life. He has breathed His very breath into you. He has put gifts and talents on the inside of you. You have seeds of greatness deposited in you. You’re a person of destiny, and you have an assignment and a purpose to fulfill.
I encourage you today to evaluate how you are spending your time. Refocus your life. Let go of any distractions. Shake off any self-pity, any discouragement, any disappointments of the past and run your race with purpose. Be careful how you live and redeem the time so that you can fulfill the destiny He has prepared for you.
Today's thought: Thank You for the gift of today. I dedicate this day to You. I dedicate my mind, will, and emotions to You. Use me this day for Your purposes and keep me on the path You have for me.
Some words in the devotional this morning spoke to where I am at today and my plans for the week... and let me know how important what I am doing this week is.
God gave you a present called “today." And with that gift comes a responsibility. The Scripture tells us to redeem the time, to make the most of every opportunity. That simply means don’t let it go to waste. Don’t live this day unfocused, unhappy, negative, or defeated. Make the most of every day.
Some times the things we have to do are not pleasant but none the less important and needy. This tells me to focus, go about my tasks with happiness, resist any negative cir****tances that may rear it's head against me and that I "CAN" do them successfully!
Because after all as Peggy once posted... "How much can I endure when I know I cannot be defeated?"
How do I not be unfocused, unhappy, negative or defeated like the devotional warns us against? In filling my mind with all the positive concepts of the "Living Word" as evidenced by all the wonderful encouragement we get each day!
So many good positive things to read in the Psalm today. The writer tells the Lord how very dependent he is on Him.
Words: Hope, refuge, fortress, confidence, splendor, mighty, marvelous, power, great, honor, comfort, praise, faithfulness, joy, redeemed, righteous.... look at all these "life" giving words in just one of the Psalms!!!
So as I embark on a new week and possible tough situations I am going to choose to look at the "positiveness" of the words I have read and draw strength from the encouragement He has already provided!
Have a good day...
Bec
Another interesting thing is that He addressed her as daughter. A very intimate term that is only used here and He almost uses the exact same phrase as He did to the "sinful" woman who anointed his feet. "Your faith has healed (saved to the sinful woman) you. Go in peace." Cool.
Bec....Shelia had me read Romans 12 in order to try and understand surrender/submission and I did some research on my own. Our last session really got me to start and understand why I won't (notice I did not say can't) do it completely. Some of it is rebellion (stiff necked...ouch) but she wants me to discover why. That helps me tear down the walls in order to fully surrender.
Then my times with God have revealed a few things: submission is yielding to His desires without resistance. Surrendering is relinquishing my control to His control and authority. (Control is the word He has given me to study this week). They are both an act of love, an act of the will and an act of faith. (These are all things I struggle with daily). So as I have talked to Him about my not surrendering these are things I believe He brought to my mind that apply directly to me. Such as the fact that Christ was GOD and yet CHOSE to submit to God the Father as an act of love. The verse that kept coming to me last week was "I believe, help my unbelief." Shelia believes that these little things are God speaking directly to my heart in order to hear what He has to say. I believe that.
I don't have much to give you, Bec, but I wanted you to know that I had been thinking about what you asked me for. Feel free to send me a message and let me know what you are wanting and I will let you know what I am learning. Love you dear friend.
Andy, thanks again for your faithfulness. You mean the world to me.

Life isn't about about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain.
