Luke 8:4-21
Psalm 69:19-36
Proverbs 12:2-3

Daily Devotional

Isaiah 9:6
"For to us a child is born, unto to us a Son is given, and the government shall be on His shoulders. And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace."

What a wonderful gift the Father gave when He sent His Son Jesus, the Prince of Peace, so everyone could have peace with God and make Heaven their home. But not only did the Prince of Peace afford everyone the opportunity to go to Heaven, He made it possible to have peace on earth–in every opportunity, action, and relationship. This holiday season, ask God to be the Prince of Peace in every area of your life. Let His peace guide you in every decision, and pave the path to victory that the Lord Has in store for you!

Today's thought: The child You sent was the Prince of Peace. Let me be an instrument of that peace, today and all year long..

Good Morning Andy and all....

Today we get a recap of the "stiffneckedness" of the Israelites!  I think this interesting that Moses reminds them of their "naughtiness's". You know?... what we do never really escapes us does it!  Yes we may be forgiven and given new chances to do things differently but we always have our sin before us to hopefully encourage us NOT to do it again!  My fav part of the old testament reading today is this:

Deut 10:12 -

And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?

To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.... (it would be interesting to know what the real diff is between the heavens and the highest heavens are?)

....do not be stiff~necked any longer.  For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome...

This is "security" to me!  In the midst of all the trouble I bring on my self at times and even that that others help me out with as well ~ha... I can know that there is power, blessing, goodness and contentment in serving the Lord and being humble and obedient before Him... as we have read over and over and over again the Lord's anger can certainly burn against sin and disobedience but we also see wonderful wonderful everlasting love in His eyes for those He loves!

And the Proverbs says it yet again in a bit diff way!

A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but the Lord condemns a crafty man, A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.

I simply love it when all the portions of readings flow like they did in my mind today!

Peggy ~ I did not catch that scripture Psalm 69:9 yesterday when I read it but it sure stood out to me when you brought it up... I'm going to do a bit of study on that in the commentaries if I can find anything on it?

Paul is setting in here and I asked him what that spoke to him and this is what he said:

David did not want the people of Israel to be distrustful of the Lord because of his life or the sins he struggled with.

That leads me to think of my actions and what I might have done that someone looked at and did not see the good light of the Lord shining thru me! I have to ask the Lord to forgive of those times... I'm sure they may be many!

Also Miss Peg? Only if you have time will you send me the scriptures or any other thing you think might be helpful from what Sheila is having you study on surrender and submission... I'm sure I could get some good out of what you are doing right now.  I don't want it to be any kind of a big job for you so if it's not an easy thing then don't worry about it...kay?

I pray all has a peaceful blessed day.
