Daily Bible Reading - Saturday March 21st
I promise today I will get caught up, I’ve read a little but was so tired I could not do the reading justice. Hope everyone is having a blessed weekend.
Today’s Reading
Numbers 32:1-33:39
Luke 4:31-5:11
Psalm 64:1-10
Proverbs 11:22
Daily Devotional
Joel 2:25
"I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.".
You can break free of the hurt, the pain, and the mistakes of the past, and recover the years, the joy and the blessings that have been stolen from you. God wants to restore these things to you — not just the way they were before — but twice as much so that you are far better off than when you began. No matter where you are today, or what happened to you yesterday, God wants to give you a new future filled with joy, fulfillment and abundance, a forgotten past and a fresh future! No matter where you are today, or what happened to you yesterday, God wants to give you a new start and a future that is better than anything you could ask for or even imagine.
Today's thought: God, give me the strength to break free from anything in my past that is holding me back. Thank you for being the God of new beginnings.
Andy ...
Was reading thru that precious little book, "Thanking God For You" you and Susan gave me this week and this was in there about a part of the reading today...
Mark 1:31 Same story as in Luke.
Willing and Able
It was as if nothing had happened. You'd never guess the seriousness of her recent illness by watching her scurry about the house, attending to everyone's needs. Energy surrounded her like a bright cloud. Her fever was gone, gone beneath the healing touch of the Savior's hand. At that touch, the twinkle in her eyes returned. And Peter's mother in law immediately began to do what she was willing (and now able) to do ~serve.
Soon everyone in town learned what had happened. No one would have doubted it was a miracle, but the townspeople may not have learned about her reaction. Luke's gospel records it: "She got up at once and began to wait on them." Jesus touch evoked an immediate response of authentic, willing service!
Before the touch of her Savior, Peter's mother in law was unable to serve. After that touch, she responded at once in acts of service. Jesus did not coerce this service. It did not stem from guilt. She did not serve to earn recognition or favor. She simply served as a response of thankfulness to the one who healed her. The Saviors' touch continues to work miracles today! Your very own heart has felt Christ's touch of grace, hadn't it? Jesus has healed you from the sickness of sin and eternal death. The miracle of Salvation, the truth that Jesus has touched our hearts with his love and grace, prompts us to do what Peter's mother in law did. Healed, we serve ~ ably and willingly.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, impress upon me a ever~deepening awareness of Jesus' healing touch. Enable me to respond in genuine, eager service to him! Amen.
I thought back to my own situation... the Lord allowed me to have this surgery and I have been healed of many many health issues! I want to use my time in service to Him! Because I HAVE been extended "grace" in the errors I made all the years I ate out of control!
Anyway it was so neat how I picked that little book up and it was the very same as today's reading! Just to cool!
The devotion was yet another good one as well.
God wants to give you a new future filled with joy, fulfillment and abundance, a forgotten past and a fresh future! No matter where you are today, or what happened to you yesterday, God wants to give you a new start and a future that is better than anything you could ask for or even imagine.
Again, Good Stuff! Isn't it simply wonderful that we can fill out hearts and minds with positive thoughts! If we keep at this hopefully it will bolster our faith and we will learn to put into action the things that are so embedded in our hearts!
Have a beautiful day!
