Exodus 14:14, AMP
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest."
In life, we’re always going to have critics. We’ll always have difficult people who try to upset us and steal our peace and joy. But, you don’t have to respond to every critic. You can decide to take the high road and let God fight your battles for you.
Sometimes, no matter what you say or do, there are people who aren’t going to accept you. They just don’t want to be at peace with you. In fact, when Jesus sent out His disciples to certain homes, He told them to always speak peace over those homes. And then He said in effect, “If they don’t receive the peace that you’re offering, then it will come back to you." That tells me, if you will do your best to be at peace with people, even if they won’t take your peace, the good news is that peace will just come back to you. You’ll not only get your peace, but you’ll get their share as well! That’s double for your trouble! When you do the right thing no matter what is happening, God sees it and He rewards it.
Today's thought: I choose to hold my peace. I choose to do the right thing even when the wrong thing is happening. I trust that You are fighting my battles for me. I give You all the honor and praise.
Just wanted you to know before I comment on the readings of late that I am continuing to hold you and Susan up for healing, strength, provision and that wonderful peace that is talked about in the devotion this morning... I know you have been thru so much this week and you both have to be weary beyond words but I also know that the Lord is there with you and ministering to you like none of us can!
I had to catch up a day or two as well and one thing I wrote down that seems to step out at me was this: John says it the crowds,
"Produce fruit in keeping with repentance."
I had to give that some thought... do I produce fruit in keeping with repentance? What does that mean for me? Depending on what my struggles are.... am I overcoming them by a humble repentant heart? Am I putting into action to the best of my ability correction to what I just repented of? ...that would produce fruit. Am I giving up those things that has caused me to sin before the Lord so that He can do the work in me?
All this could really tie in with the devotional today in the fact that we do give away our peace... and for many reasons... either by our own actions or letting the actions of others help us on with it! ~ha
Again in my mind all this boils down to "choice"... every day we make choices and then we deal with the consequences of those choices...
Today I want to hold on to the gift of peace. I want to make good choices and have the blessings of righteousness (right living) reign in my life!
Know Andy that you are welcome should you need a break from the hospital and that I am holding you and Susan up before the Lord that your every need will be met!
