I am affraid to drink to fast or to much. I think I might have yesterday, because I almost puked 2 times. I think i drank a bit to much with my tylenol.  My mouth was watering like crazy, and i started to get the feeling that it was about to come up. But I distracted myself and it went away.

Heather from what i can find out it sounds like you are doing ok.....all it says about food and such is that you are to be on a clear liquid diet for the first week after surgery and not to eat or drink anything too fast ...did they give you a diet list or guidelines to go by? i hope this works for you it is a really neat operation sounds like...was your throat really sore? ....is the tylenol for the sore throat? good luck from what i read it says you can lose about 60 percent of your excess weight....how did you ever get into a program like that?  Jan

Im not to sure about the Togo procedure but with RNY they want us to drink at least 64oz of water a day, right out of surgery its sip sip sip sip a littlle bit at a time.  1/4 a cup is 2oz at a time so I'm sure thats fine, since you just had the procedure Im sure you are feeling the full effect right away.

Sorry I'm not much help,

Andy

After my RNY they told me to drink one ounce every fifteen minutes while I was in the hospital. You may want to start earlier in the day and not wait two hours to drink. I wasn't able to swallow pills for the first month,be careful. Hang in there you will get the hang of it and it will get better,

Go to top of page and in the search box type in Toga and there it will take you to some ladies that have had this and are going to have this so they want to hear from you beings you have already had it.  I am not going to even guess at what your going through you need to call your surgeon if your not feeling well.
Find those ladies that are in this boat with you and keep us posted here we want to know that your ok and that you are doing well.  Please take care of yourself know we are thinking of you.

Yes I am on a clear liquid diet for the first 2 days. And they told me to keep taking the Prilosec that they gave me. To make sure to keep the acid down. I am not having a hard time swallowing pills. I took the tylenol for any pain that I have. Its mostly not pain, I would describe it as an annoiing constant ach. They didnt give me any kind of pain meds, they just said take tylenol.

On day 3, which is today, I can start the Full Liquid Pureed Diet. They gave me a booklet with all the info and eating suggestions. I think I might just buy baby food, so i dont have to mess with pureeing it myself. They said I could do that. I have to stay on this part of the diet through 2 weeks. Then I can start adding soft foods that I dont have to puree n week 3. then the next step is regular food. I cannot have meat yet, and I think they want me to avoid meat. I have to have the protein mixes to make up for it. I am still waiting on them to come in the mail. I hope they get here soon.
My booklet also says that I should take 60 minutes to eat 8 oz of food.

My Thoat was a bit soar the first 2 days. But now it just feels like i have a knot in my throat when I swallow. I guess thats from them making my esophegus opening smaller, and just irritation. maybe.

My mom heard about this study from somewhere and told me about it. So I got online and signed up for this research study. Then they called me pretty quick and asked more questions. Then that was it for like 6 months. Then they called me and it all moved so quick. Now its done.

Darn spell check isnt working. sorry for the bad spelling. lol

I actually left my list on the fridge- here is what i ate:
7am- 2 oz h2o
8am- 2 oz h20
9am- 2 oz grape juice
10am- 3oz jello
12pm- 6ox grape juice- sat and sipped over 60min (lunch)
2pm- 6 oz h20- over 30min
4pm- 6oz broth- sipped over 60min (dinner)
6pm- 3 oz broth
8pm- 3 oz broth
1am- 2oz h20

Just make sure you are getting sips of something in at least every 2 hours while you are awake so you don't get dehydrated.  I also set a timer for 60 minutes to get used to eating over 60 minutes.
I actually had tylenol #3 so I did a lot of sleeping.  I had a "golf ball" stuck in my throat.  My doc said I was wrong it was only a pingpong!

It took about 2 weeks for it to completely go away.  I still had it a little at the two week follow up.  I was worried that it wasn't going away, because he had explained that "difficulty swallowing" was a side effect.  Luckily it went away.
