Ok after the 60 lb.s or so , my tailbone hurt for about a month, now after 100+ it is hurting CONSTANTY , I went to the dr (gp) and he gave me vicodin,  I have been having to take them sometimes 5 a day!  the only time it doesn't hurt is if i'm standing up, ( yes sitting around on my butt doing nothing isn't weight loss productive lol but JEEZ!) went to the movies the other night, couldn;t even enjoy it, half way through i'm squirming around more focused on the pain than the movie. How long can I expect this to last? what have some of you others experienced? doc kept asking about injuries, and I tried to explain that it was weight loss related .....right?

Wow this topic has been coming up a lot lately.  It may not be related to WL at all.  A friend of mine had fallen when she was young and hurt her tail bone, then when she had WLS she started hurting all the time like your saying your doing.  She had to have surgery about 3 weeks ago to remove her tail bone.  She wasn't able to stand or sit without being in pain even in bed she hurt.  I would say if you are taking that much pain meds you need to find someone to see if something else isn't going on.  I know I had some tail-end pain when I first started this journey, but it didn't last long at all.  I wish you luck with this and take care of yourself.  Keep us posted.

think everyone has experienced this ,...you learn how to sit so it isnt right on the bone.
a doctor told me that it was losing the fat pads on the bottom and tail bone,,, that is an awful lot of narcotis in a days time, if it is hurting that much you need to go to your reg doc and tell him/her that you want a scan of it or x ray or something.... and if nothing bone wise there i would recomend getting off the narcotics just because it isnt good for you,,,,,we can take tylenol some  if we need it,..

good luck...with the pain,

Susy,
I remember well the days when I had a bottom pain but it did quit and I agree with Jan. Sit on a pillow or do anything but get off the Vicodin. That stuff will make you so constipated and it is addictive. If you need that much pain med you may have a more serious problem. Mine did hurt though for at least 3 months. I remember riding in the car hurt unless I sat on a pillow. Hugs.

"WLS is about making better choices, a healthier lifestyle and seeing how little you can eat.  Portion control is the key to all weight loss surgeries.  Bottom line - it isn't how much you can eat - it is how little you can eat."

Thanks all, I know the vicodin is BAD for the poo  already figured that one out lol. I didn't mean it to sound like I was taking 5 a day every day, some day's I don't take any at all, but tylenol doesn't even touch it. I think I will try a "donut" pillow, maybe it will help.  thanks again, Susan
