In reading in Matthew it really struck me how it had already been told in the old testament of how the Christ would be taken and beaten crucified and exactly how and when it would be done. In Matt. 26:52 Jesus told his companions that reached for their sword to put it back, that he knew the scriptures had to be fulfilled, He could of called upon His Father to send 12 legions of angels to help him but he knew that the scriptures must be fulfilled and it had to be done in the way it was happening.

I looked up how many 12 legions is.  A legion was approximately 6,000 soldiers. So…we’re looking at 72,000 angels that are at the command of Christ.  Thus, an army of 72,000 angels is perfectly capable of wiping out well over 5 billion people in the same amount of time. The earth currently holds a little over 6 billion. He could of wiped out the whole population of the earth, but He chose not to.

So, the message to the disciples in the garden of Gethsemane was, “Do not think you are being courageous in fighting for me, and do not pity me. I have a heavenly army at my disposal that can slaughter an Earth-full of oppressors in a matter of days."

It becomes all the more real that Jesus embraced the cross himself. He was not forced upon it.  He could have given a command, and his oppressors would have looked up to see 72,000, angelic swords in mid-swing. Yet we are told that he humbled himself, even to the point of death on a cross (Phil. 2:8). He who knew no sin became sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:21). He put aside his power to command the mightiest and most lethal army in the universe, in order to die in the place of sinners.  If that’s doesn’t describe love then I don’t know what does.  Thank the Lord he gave his only son for us that we can have life and now that we have a 2nd chance so to speak at life, I’m going to do whatever it takes to get healthy and stay healthy.

Revelation 21:7
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Being thin is a wonderful goal. Regaining health and vigor is also great. Looking and feeling good are important, but both pale in comparison with how good it is to please the Lord by being the best people we can be. When we diet, we not only gain physically, but also spiritually. Resisting temptation tones our spiritual being as well as dieting tones our physical being. When we reach our goal in our diet, we reach a second goal, as well: We do what is pleasing to God. When we are faithful to do the will of the Lord, we can rest assured that we have an eternal home with Him.

Today's thought: Dieting makes me a spiritual overcomer as well as a physical overcomer!

I am so thankful for the sacrifice of Christ...

When I read all of the rules and regulations and all of the blood that had to be spilled in order for the high priest to even enter the tabernacle it shows me how much Christ accomplished with His death and resurrection.  I can enter the presence of God....righteous and perfect....because He gave His life, once and for all.

Wow...no more sacrifices, no more blood, no more fear of death....

I am sobered to realized how often I take the sacrifice of Christ for granted...

Isnt it amazing what all they had to go through just to enter the outter part of the temple and then only certain priests could enter the inner part.  It really is sobering to think about how He gave His life for us and what all he truly went through.
