WHEN......
When do you get to start eating regular again or regular food again.......I am so starving for food. I love my salads and pasta and can't wait to eat them. When did everyone start to eat normal food again.....
I have lost 15 pounds since my surgery but am still kind of regretting the surgery in itself.

The notebook Dr. H gave you will have an outline of what you can eat when. I think you should be able to do soft foods at this stage Im not sure, but if you look in the notebook you'll see. Also becareful with pasta, thats loaded with carbs, usually carbs like that will not go good on the new tummy, im 2 years out and if i eat any type of pasta like that I dump, for me pasta is a no no. Congrats on losing 15 lbs, you well on ur way.
Hope that helps.
P.S. Are you drinking protein shakes? As newly out of surgery as you are those are VERY important.

It gets better just hang in there, and try to not have potatoes, pasta, white bread and anything with sugar and you will do fine, if you don't eat them you will get where you don't crave them..you are doing good, and it will get better...I am 2 years out and have never regretted it, but it is hard at first just be patient with yourself and enjoy the wonderful ride....vesta

I haven't had them yet. I miss salad but since it is raw and lettuce has little nutrition I won't be having it any time soon. I may try a chef salad if they hold the lettuce. The meat cheese and egg would be good. Take it slow. You have head hunger now, its not your pouch. I still do not get hungry. I do get head hunger but trust me you can resist it. Your pouch doesn't need any trauma right now so be careful. You will make it. I do eat normal food now, just healthy food. Be careful when you start adding items. Do only one at a time so you will know if it is ok with your pouch and don't do it till the book says so.
Ok so far everyone isn't eating bread or pasta......I love pasta and really want some and would like to hear from people who are eating it because I want to know that I can have it again or they can just UNDO this surgery.
I REALLY REGRET THIS SURGERY>>>>>EVERYONE SAYS IT IS JUST THE WAY SOME PEOPLE FEEL AFTER SURGERY BUT I SERIOUSLY WANT IT UNDONE.
I AM ALSO NOT EATING WHAT THE BOOK SAYS I CAN....I AM BEYOND THAT

i am very sorry you are feeling like you do,And i know you don't wanna hear certain things. But it does get better.I am not at the total wooohoooo I Love it stage and i'd do it all over again stage,But each day does get better,
I too used to love pasta. But i have tried it twice since surgery and both times it made me very very sick,I no longer love pasta.
Please follow yur dr's eating program,He has the plan for a reason. Not only eating what we want, when we want, is what got us to the surgery in the first place,But now it CAN kill us if we DO NOT FOLLOW directions.Your pouch is new and very sensitive right now. Eating the wrong foods can disrupture your staple line which can cause death. So please follow the dr's plan.
I am sorry if this upset you.But i care if you live or die.

Misty,
I don't want to bash you or make you upset but I do have two questions for you.
1. Why did you want to have the surgery to begin with?
2. Did you reasearch the surgery and what you can and can't do after the surgery is preformed?
You CAN explode your pouch and die--that is a VERY real possibility. I'm only telling you that because I know you have a child that you love and want to be here for so please don't do anything you'll regret.

There was alot of unanswered questions and alot things that I didn't know and no one told me before the surgery. Like for example I wasn't told that I couldn't eat pasta, sweets or anything with sugar in it ever again.
I just don't think this surgery was worth it either that or I am just too young and should of waited til I was older.

Misty;
Many of us have been where you are now. You are grieving - for the food that you miss, the comfort that food gavet you, the former lifestyle you don't have anymore. That part of your life is gone now.
Right now you need to stick to the plan that Dr. H gave you. Sugar free popsicles and sugar-free hard candy can take care of the need to 'chew'.
As for no pasta or things with sugar, right now that's a no-no. Your body cannot handle it. Eventually, if you choose, you can have, in small portions, things with sugar or pasta. Most RNYers stay away from sugar because of the dumping. As for pasta, if I have any, it's multigrain.
You can do this, Misty. For every bump in the road, there is a mountain top. We all are here for you.
