Local WLS Support Group

Does anyone know of a WLS support group in or around Ft Leonard Wood. I am hoping to have WLS and have a friend who had it in Germany who is also looking for one. I would like to join one and the Dr I am going to has one, but that is over a 2 hour drive one way. That makes for a very long day and I would really like to keep it under a half an hour drive.

We are both looking for a group were we actually get together and meet not just an email or phone call once in a while. If any of you know of any nearby, or if you live in the area and would be interested in joining a group please let me know.

Hi Mary and welcome.  I am here (Waynesville) and most of us from aroung here go the BBF meeting at Osage Beach.  It's about 1 hour but let me tell you, we have so much fun on the drive there and even after we get there that it's SOOOO worth it. The women in that group have become just like family and we love getting together.  There are a couple of us from here.  Then we drive to Dixon and pick up Susie and meet Karen in Iberia and head up there.  There are people there from as far away as Sedalia, and Warrensburg, (I think).  Anyway, if you want to join us we welcome the company.  The next meeting is a little different as we are having a card making party in Dixon at Susie's house.

we welcome you with open arms to come be a part of our little family we have all became so close it is just wonderful all the new friends we have all met .   I do hope you and your friend can come . I think our next one is Feb 28th @ Susie's house and that would be real close to you she just lives down from Wal_marts there in St. Roberts I think Dixon address but really closer up there I do believe.

I am only 8 miles from the front gate of the base(up Hwy Y) We would love to have you join us for the meeting here on Feb 28 @ 12. We will be having a meal and making greeting cards. Finding a support group was very important to me and has helped me so much. They have become like family . If you can come let me know and I will PM you directions and contact info. Hello mary welcome to the board.i do not live near you but,these girl's on here are really nice people.my husband andy and i go to springfield for the support meeting's.i am going to a doctor in columbia on feb 24 i should get my surgery date then.andy had the surgery a litle over 2 year's ago.i feel like i have already seen these wonderfull people already in person.i hope someday i will.they have given andy and i a lot of support.have a good day god bless susan

Welcome to the MIssouri Board.  Everyone here is very nice and welcoming.  We all try to help when someone has a question or concern.  You'll find some great friends here.  I know I have.  As alot have mentioned  we do have a support group here in Osage Beach.  We meet the last Saturday of the month at the Osage Beach Library at 10:30 am.  Unless otherwise stated here on the board.  Our dear Susie has offered her home for the February meeting.  We are going to have a card making/stamping party.  Should be lots of fun.  We're also going to do a pot luck lunch.  Just keep an eye out here on the board for a post about it and a sign up sheet.  We welcome EVERYONE, those looking to have WLS, those who have had WLS, and even those who just want to lose weight and of course you're welcome to bring a support person.  Usually the people in your area car pool to the meetings and like they said we have an awesome time even just riding and talking in the car.  It's very refreshing to get together with people who are like minded.  It helps to know you're not alone with your feelings.

Thanks everyone for being so helpful and eager to answer  my post. I have marked the date in my planner and do plan on attending. I spoke with my friend Michelle and she is hoping to attend as well. Just let us know what to bring and how to get there. I only live 1 mile from Road Ranger so I dont think finding it will be that hard, it sounds like it is pretty close to where I live.
