Boy how time fly’s when reading the word of God.  We’ve finished the story of Joseph and his family and are not heading the great story of Moses, another story that I am always blessed when I read it.  But this morning I am dwelling on the devotion.  I look back over the years that I have dieted, for most of us the years of dieting are many, I see a pattern in my life that when I diet I last a few days and then give in to temptation.  When I read about Jesus and how he fasted for forty days and was tempted by the devil during those days I look at how He got through those 40 days.  As the devotion says this is a good image for us to remember.  Jesus makes it look so easy when in fact Im not sure it was even easy for Him but he pushed through and did it.  If we can just use His source of strength we too can do it.  I’ve come to learn when I get hungry, yes even though I’ve had the surgery 2 years ago I do get hungry, I have been reading a passage of scripture when I get hungry and filling my spirit with food instead of my body and that has been helping me tremendously.  It seems for me lately that ole stinkin devil just can’t stop trying to make me eat, well I have news for him,  he’s been served notice and knows he is gonna fail in what he is trying to do.  Doing this thread each day has not only helped me spiritually, its helped me physically too,  I think when our spirit is being fed our physical bodies feel like they are being fed as well, at least that’s how it seems to be working for me

***Bec***Once again I am so blessed by what the Lord has been speaking to you about,  I can’t thank you enough for sharing with us, you just don’t know how much of a blessing your words really are, thank you!

***Peggy*** Your so right, I to tend to forget about the victories I worked hard for, the instant victories are wonderful but the ones that are worked hard for are just as wonderful and sometimes more rewarding.  I am making a conscience effort to praise Him in ALL victories, thanks for sharing that Peggy.

***Sugar***I’m so glad God really does allow us to learn from our mistakes to become better people.  I’ve made so many mistakes in the past its unreal but Praise the Lord He is so faithful to pick us up and teach us from our mistakes.  Thanks for being such a blessing Sugar.

Well I better get going and get ready for Church, you all have a great Sunday.

Daily Devotional for Dieters

Psalm 85:13
Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

Jesus fasted forty days in the wilderness, and He was sustained by His faith. The devil came to Him and tried to tempt Him with bread, but He refused to give in. This is a good image for us to remember when we are dieting. Often we feel we cannot go on when we miss just one meal. Christ proved to us that even after missing meals for forty days, there is still a source of strength other than food. That source is God, and His strength is available to everyone who will ask for it. Let us remember to follow in the steps of Jesus Christ and lean on our heavenly Father whenever we feel weak or tempted.

Today's thought: I am facing nothing that Christ did not face before me.

Good morning,  After reading your post I have decided to use scripture to help with my weight loss.  Although I am a believer I have never considered applying scripture to my life when it comes to helping me to loose weight.  I know it will work because the word of God is powerful as well as healing.  I should have thought of this earlier.  Thanks for your post.

I wish I had used scripture to help me lose weight when I first had surgery, I know I would of done much better from the beginning.  Psalm 16:3 says Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts should be established.  I've used this scripture to help me get started.  Doing the bible study has totally helped me in my journey,  I hope you find it very helpful as well.  Dont hesitate to post and comments that you might have, we are always blessed by reading what God is doing for others.

Have a blessed day,

Andy
