Daily Bible Reading - Tuesday Jan. 20
As I read Proverbs this morning once again it tells us of wisdom and how wisdom is supreme and that we should follow the wisdom our Father has given us. Vs. 2 goes on to say I give you sound learning so do not forsake my teaching. The Lord really spoke to me this morning about this on how He has given me the wisdom to lose weight and to use that wisdom and not forsake it. You know as dieters we all know what to do and how to stay on the track of good health yet we sometimes don’t want to listen to the wisdom we have. I know in my life I tend to push the wisdom I have aside. Why is that? Why is it we get lazy with the wisdom we are given? Vs. 5. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. The Lord tells us as plain and simple as can be, get wisdom and understanding and don’t forget his words. Then Vs. 6 tells us Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. I just love that, don’t you? The Lord is really showing me this morning how important it is to keep wisdom He gives us close to our hearts and to use it, not forsake it, if we do that wisdom will protect us and watch over us, that’s just awesome!
Don’t you all just love the proverbs? I really think if we follow the wisdom and understanding of Proverbs we will forever be changed. God is so wonderful to give us this wisdom to live by, now what we do with it is up to us. I know this has really opened my eyes in some areas of my life I need to follow His wisdom and guidance, Thank you Lord!!
You all have a blessed day. Again as I mentioned yesterday, keep the leaders of our great country in your prayers, they are sure going to need it in the coming months.
Today’s
Genesis 41:17-42:17
Matthew 13:24-46
Psalm 18:1-15
Proverbs 4:1-6
Daily Devotion for Dieters
Psalm 24:3-5
"Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation"
God wants us to receive every blessing that He has in store for us. That’s why He tells us in His Word how we can receive every one of His promises—by having clean hands and a pure heart. What does that mean?
First of all, we are made clean and pure by the blood of Jesus when we make Him our Lord and Savior and turn away from anything that displeases Him. And I’ve found that most of the time, it’s not the big things that keep us from God’s best; it’s the small things—maybe it starts with an offense that turns into unforgiveness. Or maybe you watch things on TV or the internet that you know you shouldn’t, and it becomes a bad habit that steals your time and pollutes your mind.
Make the decision today that you are going to be a person of excellence and integrity. Treat the people in your life with respect and kindness. Look for ways to be a blessing to others. Be determined to live a life that pleases God so that you can receive the honor, wealth, and abundance that He has in store for you!
Today's thought: I’m going to walk in His wisdom and integrity.
You asked above... why do you tend to push wisdom aside?... I know for me (not at all directing this at you) it called the "flesh" I know when I put something in my mouth that is not wise... knowing I will not reap good benefits, or when I have unkind thoughts in my mind towards someone over a situation even if it is "justified" (not), or any other manner of cause that pushes me to leave the wisdom that I have been given. And sometimes even worse is the mental effects of knowing I failed, is worse than what I did that was not wise. Satan uses ALL to his advantage... thus why I need to continually be "girded up" to resist doing the offensive actions. It's wonderful that the Word is daily urging us to "higher places" and giving us instruction on how to get there and stay there!
Appreciated your take on the Proverbs this morning!
And I loved it in the devotion today when it said, "Make the decision today that you are going to be a person of excellence and integrity. Treat people in your life with respect and kindness.... determine to live a life that pleases God...."
Such words to inspire us: hopefully we are better than we were yesterday, diligently working on today, and will be better for it tomorrow!
Have a wonderful day.

I am so moved today by the examples in the reading of how God is in control. In control in Egypt (Godless country), in control in Israel (Godless people), in control in David's time (Godless enemies). Even when I choose to ignore Him and His will for me, He is still in control. Life is so much easier when I allow Him to be in control and submit to His will. And so painful when I don't. Now if I can learn to practice this! I will still have troubles but when I submit I have the "joy of the Lord" and that is my strength!
Thanks again for your words of "wisdom".
Love you all.

Life isn't about about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain.
