Daily Bible Reading - Wed. Jan. 14
As I was reading this morning in Genesis it really jumped out at me about Leah, how in yesterdays reading she was praising God for Him giving her children, esp with her 4th child Judah. In today’s reading she let her jealousy of her sister get the best of her when she gave her maidservant to Jacob to bear her more children. No once was God mentioned anymore, she had previously viewed her children as a gift from God but now sees these sons just as a good fortune saying “How lucky I am" or “How happy I am" instead of giving God the praise anymore. It was almost as if Leah and Rachel were keeping score in how many children they bore. Just makes me look and think of how jealously will ruin a person, Leah got so jealous that she forgot where her children actually came from, what a shame. Jealously in our lives can really take our focus off God and get us off track, I know it has with me. There’s been times in my life I was jealous over the silliest things and it got my focus off God and onto other things. Praise God He is a loving and forgiving God and helps us get our sights back on track when we wonder off.
As I read you alls comments you post, it really thrills my heart how God speaks to us all in different ways, it’s just amazing, it really is. God seems to give us all different illustrations which in turn really blesses us, I can’t thank all of you enough for sharing what God is doing in your lives, you don’t know how much it really blesses me and I know it blesses many others that read this.

Daily Devotional for Dieters
Psalm 11:7
For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
Don't let self-pity become part of your diet. It's very easy to feel sorry for yourself when you diet. First, you feel bad because you're overweight. Then you feel bad because of all you have to give up. You feel badly because other people don't seem to understand what you're going through. They get to eat as they please. All of these things can make dieters feel extremely sorry for themselves. Take heart. God knows what you're going through and He is de-lighted that you care so much about yourself. It is right and good to want to lose weight. Whenever we try to do what we think is right, God supports us completely. Replace self-pity with the blessed assurance that God is on your side.
Today's thought: Dieting is no reason for self-pity!
I get so blessed with the devotions, I hope and pray each of you are as blessed as I am by reading the bible through. I know by the end of the year we all will be so blessed in the knowledge we will obtain and especially with how much closer will be with to God, just think of how thrilled He must be that we are reading His word.
Have a blessed day!
But I can happily say that since surgery I have not been near so bad about that... not perfect but way better than I used to be... even as I just told dear Peggy Poo that I have a dear loved one that sets in front of me eating cinnamon grams while I'm working my fanny off!!! REALLY! ~tee hee
In the past I would have been all about that pity and angry to boot!!! But the Lord is showing Himself real to me thru this whole WLS journey and I'm gaining some real benefit and not only in my physical body, but mentally, spiritually, emotionally and various other ways as well! I can see that as the last line of the devotion says... "replace self pity with the blessed assurance that God is on MY side!!! I'm so thankful that I can clearly see that!
In Proverbs today it said in part blessed is the man that gains understanding for she is profitable! I want to be "profitable" and not live in myself but be useful to those around me! Focus Becky Focus!!! ~ha
