Diet Soda Research
Just because diet soda is low in calories doesn't mean it can't lead to weight gain.
It may have only 5 or fewer calories per serving, but emerging research suggests that consuming sugary-tasting beverages--even if they're artificially sweetened--may lead to a high preference for sweetness overall. That means sweeter (and more caloric) cereal, bread, dessert--everything.

Craig...
Good post... I truly believe that overweight people have addicitive personalities per se' ... everyone has issues true but I believe that many that are obese self medicate with food.
It is true that even successful postops can find themselves beset with subsituting other addictive types of behaviour that can end up sabotaging their long term WLS success.
Some will subsitute with over exercising, partying excessively, drinking, etc. etc. (fill in the blank) SOOOOO if your trigger before included a sweet tooth it could entirely be possible that drinking even diet sodas could trigger that reponse.
Great thing for those early out or even long term to consider.... if you see a problem or even a potential problem. NIP IT IN THE BUD!
It sure was nice to see you Craig!!!!
