Daily Bible Reading

Well it’s the beginning of another year, with the new start it’s one of my main goals this year to read the whole bible through this year, its something I have never been able to accomplish, this year with the help of the Lord it’s something we can all accomplish if that’s your desire.  I wasn’t sure if anyone was going to do this post so I’m going to go ahead and start it, if anyone at all wants to step in please feel free to at anytime.

I have found 2 different reading plans online.  One reads straight through the bible from Genesis to Revelations in chronological order.  The other one has a reading from the Old Testament, starting with Genesis, a reading from the New Testament, starting with Matthew, a reading from Psalms and a reading from Proverbs, they are all short readings so they stretch out throughout the year.  I’m not sure which one you all would want but I’ll post one and if you don’t like it and want to try the other one please feel free to have input.  Both of these you can either sit at your PC and read the passages or use your own bible.  I’ll post the daily passages to read and it will be up to if you want to use your own bible or use the online version.   Again if anyone has any other ideas or wants to do this please feel free to say so.

Here is the link to the website if you want to read online, you can choose which version of the Bible you want to read from.

Remember, that when you are reading the bible, you are not just reading some stories, you are reading God's word . . . God is speaking to you!

Everyone have a great and prosperous New Year!

Today’s Reading:

GENESIS 1:1-2:25

MATTHEW 1:1-2:12

PSALM 1:1-1:6

PROVERBS 1:1-1:6

Here is a Daily  Devotional I thought I would share also,  these come from a “Devotional For Dieters" I have found these to speak to my heart at times.

Hebrews 9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

If we learn anything at all from being a Christian, we learn that good things do not come without sacrifice. Jesus had to give everything He had in order to reunite us with God. If we decide to be the best we can be, then we need to accept the fact that there is some sacrifice required. When we learn to sacrifice, we learn what it means to be a Christian. Sacrifice is a good discipline. Sacrifice teaches us what is really important, and it helps us be thankful for what we have. When we stop to think of how great Christ's sacrifice for us was, it inspires us in our diets to become better people; people worth dying for!

Today's thought: Dieting can draw me closer to being a disciple!

I Corinthians 15:57 - But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Andy!!!!

How fantastic is this!!!!???

What a wonderful idea this is!  Even though I have read the bible thru there is something to be gained EVERY time you do it!!!  I love that it is the "living word"!!!  It can reach your most difficult problem and will drive you so much closer in your relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!  And.... it has been doing it all thru the ages since it was written!!!!  Oh boy I got chills thinking of that!!!

Even if no one else wants to do this I know I will get immeasurable good from it! And I thank you for your commitment to it.... a year is a long time to do something day in and day out...I pray the Lord will bless you most of all!!!!

Boy I can't thank you enough for thinking of it!  I will pray you succeed this year in reaching your goal of reading the bible in a year and that you will reach your weight loss goals as well....

I told Susan today that I think it is fantastic that you are going to do the two week liquid diet with her!!! Man that nearly makes me want to cry!  You will be blessed in many many ways for doing that!!!  Not only in your own weight loss but in the fact that you are willing to give that much out of love for your wife!!!  I just know the Lord is going bless that greatly!!!

Andy I have been so very blessed by this post this morning and by the devotional you added to go with it... it is ever so true about sacrifice!!!

Thank you again!

Bec

P.S. Which way are you going to read it...straight thru or a bit out of each?  I want to do it the same way you do.... I have that one year bible and I have read it straight thru... they both are good....

Andy
Thank you for he post. When i renewed my life with the Lord after my brother committed suicide in Jan 19th 07 my paster told me to start in the new testement with matthew. So i did start it made it to romans.lots of great ready but have slipped since then.for me starting in matthew is eaier for me. i really dont understand all the begots and things in the old testement but am willing to start. i learned alot from matthew to romans so far. revelations scare the hibbe jebbees out of me. but know i need to read entire bible. i sure would of completely fallin apart after billys death if it had not been for my paster i would have. I really struggle with his committing suicide not knowing if before he died if he had asked god as his personal savior and forgiveness. Pastor told me we dont know in those last min what went on .So i try to live with thinking he talked to the lord before he left us.Only Billy and God know the answers.i really want 2009to be filled with gods love and learn more of his plan for me. i also read a book called  the purpous driven life great book. and a a book called each day with jesus. i dont read then daily like i should but its a new year and i will try and do better. Thank you for the post. I have a book ordered on how to read the bible in a year. Please keep this post going I for one really need to see and read it daily.
Love Deb

How Awesome! I just printed off the calendar to read the bible in one year. I am going to start with Genesis and go straight through to Revaluations. I think that will be the best way for me. So far, I have read up to Genesis chapter 8. So I am ahead to Jan. 3. I want to try and stay ahead in case I lag a little bit. Are we going to post any type of discussions on what we read? Just wondering. Isn't the Lord absolutely amazing? How he created this whole world and every thing on it in just seven days!

Bless your heart Andy. Thank you for starting this for us. I have wanted to read the bible thru but get distracted and never get it done. Maybe with us all doing it together it will keep me on track..
