Questions for those who have experienced a stall in their weight loss after a RNY:

1.  How far out from your surgery date were you when you stalled?
2.  How long did it last?
3.  How did you get jump started?

I stalled at three weeks post op and haven't moved since. I am a little  upset about it to. I have been stuck for ten days. I never expected to get stuck at three weeks. It is hard to be happy about my RNY if this is all I am going to lose. I do not have any answers for you on jumpstarting but I will be watching evryones answers.

Hang in there Susie!
I stalled for 3 weeks and discovered that the quality of the protein I was taking made a big difference.  The stuff from Wal-Mart didn't do it for me.    If you don't get good protein ,the body goes into starvation mode and no weight is lost. (this info from my Dr.)
Secondly...walk...no walk, no loss for me, even 5 months out from RNY (7/14/08).

Blessings on your new life and a Merry Christmas!

1.  3 weeks
2.  2-3 weeks
3.  Changed protein drink to something more absorbable for me.  Wal-Mart Body Fortress didn't work.  Now I get something from Herb Depot.

I have had a couple of different stalls, usually when I look at my protein intake and my water I know the problem.  Also sometimes I think we have to remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are working out alot that might be some of ist. Best of luck, Raynetta

Im 2 and half years out ,,,,there will be many stalls along the way, it is the way your body catches up with the weight loss already done...measure when you have a stall and you will see you are losing inches. it is never a straight line down to the desired weight. more like stair steps.  every time i have stalled i have looked at my protein and water intake and usually one or the other or both need to be increased....

dont know what kind of protein you are taking but it has to be Whey isolates. for your body to absorbs all of it....you should be striving to get close to  80grams and water should be atleast 64 oz....more if you can do it. it is what washes the toxins out of your body... write down what you are putting in your mouthy and how much of both of these things you are getting and you will see where you are going wrong. Susie lol i had to laugh sweetie unless you sit over there and eat candy all day you will lose lots more i promise. ....keep up the good work and try to get in some exercise of some kind..

ejschu66,

Thank you for that post. I was using the unflavored protein from GNC and losing right along. Then I changed to the body fortress from walmart and have been stalled for about a month now and not losing inches. I am switching back to the unflavored protein from GNC and see if it makes a difference.
