Ok calling all medical people.  I got the results of my labs but not sure what it all means cause couldn't talk to dr. until tomorrow but I want to know now!

My Vit-A is low, I read a few articles that says this is malnutrition????????

Vit b-12 high why is this is it because I get injections from dr once a month?

Vit D low

What is floate, hemolysate?

What is INR?

Help, I can't stand to wait!!!!

Hi Bev,

Sure don't know what to tell you about the levels and some of the ones that might be able to tell you are possibly attending the COF support group meeting tonight....

I know that Debbie D. was going to try and find out some information on this subject from her doc real soon.... I think we sure do need to be more educated on what it is we need and what some of these different things mean.... I hope she is able to find out some information when she talks to her doc.

I think I can help a little.

INR is related to blood clotting and is usually watched closely in people taking coumadin.

Vit D  is the hot new vitain to watch, it's been all over the news as far as finding it low in people and the wonderful things it does--none of which I can remember at the moment.

If you are talking about folate--then that is one of the B Vitamin family.  If it is truley spelled floate then I have no idea what it is.  Nor do I know what hemosylate is.

And yes your vit B12 could be high from the shots, but that is probably OK.

Bev you need to see that Dr. Hornbostel gets those because he said that what is ok and nornmal for otheres isnt ok for weight loss patients...he will put you on Vit d i know and maybe some other stuff. ....better get to eating or at least doing 3 protein drinks a day....really you arent suppose to take your vits for seems like 2 days before you have blood drawn.. but be sure and see that dr. H gets your labs. ok?

At my 3 yr labs my vit D was low also .MY PC gave me a script for Vit D that wasn'****er soluable. So it would do us NO good at all.  I contacted Vitalady on the grad board & she was a great help. I now take a powder D. Which desolves in your mouth or small enouph to swallow. My B was high too. But my RNY doc said that that was OK. Some of my iron stuff was borderline & he said not to worry about that. Vitalady has a good iron also. She is a RNY patient too, & knows alot about what we need.

Jan,

I didn't think about what is normal for others isn't normal for us, that makes sense.  My dr. here said they sent them a copy.  I left word for Margie yesterday to call me today so hopefully she calls me this afternoon.  The eating is a big issue in many ways more so emotionally I know I don't eat hardly anything and not doing the shakes either maybe that's why my vit. a is low and states malnutrition?  Got a therapy session tomorrow maybe that will help me?
