Where do I start

sounds like you are where God wants you to be for sure .....im sure that if they cover the lap band they should cover the RNY...call them and find out....it has been documented that the RNY sucessfully gets rid of diabeties...they are even doing it to thin people that have diabetis in Austrailia for total treatment...that is amazing isnt it?
I was pre diabetic , had high blood pressure, high cholestrol , had constand swelling in my feet and legs etc etc etc....now have none of that, havent taken any of my former meds since the day before surgery....traded all of them for vits. at least they are natural lol
Dr. Hoen in Shawnee Mission is a really good doctor and if you cant have Dr. Hornbostel in Sedalia then that is who he recomends lol ....

Im hoping they cover RNY but like I said it is definatly a God send they cover anything. I didnt understand why they wanted to cover cholesterol meds, water pills, glucose mters, strips.......and so foreth but not weight assistance. I have tried fad diets,starving myself, water diets.......none worked. Thyroid is fine and I am 6.3 on the diabetic scale (6.0 is non diabetic)  I just wanna walk into my doctor and say I have my prerequisites(lol) sign me up!


I did sucessfully quit smoking as of September 16th so I am trying for the better. And guess what I have 5 kids who are still here to get on my nerves .lol No death fron non smoking.

I will get their numbers from the websites and try to call today, if not there i will call tomorrow since today is a holiday for some.........

I called Dr Hoen's office today and I goto the seminar next Monday. I told them I was wanting to get the ball rolling and the lady that answered the phone got that done for me........YEAH. Monday at  6 pm at Shawnee Mission Hospital.

I don't know if my doctor is in the group you need but I highly recommend him.  Dr. John Price at St. Luke's, Kansas City. 

My insurance required a 3 month diet and exercise program.  Dr. Price required a sleep study and a pysch evaluation.  I started in January and had surgery July 8th.

Good luck!!  It is a life changing event but I'm very happy with it.
