It's Me! The missing Lynette!
First of all "HI" and thanks for all of the prayers! I am home (at my Mom and Dad's) recovering. That's what we had planned for after surgery so that I could have some TLC and my husband could go back to work.
My surgery did not go exactually as planned. Things went a little different. Once they got in there to do my bypass they ran into complications. In 1983 I had a appendix that burst and I guess that that messed up my small intestines. He said that they had a bunch of adhesions and he was unable to "untangle" them. So he did a Sleeve Gastroplasty. He said that it was "cutting edge" surgery that has had great results without some of the complications that gastric has. I should acheive the same results in the same amount of time. I can take my pills, one every 5 minutes, capsules and all. I am off of my insulin. I will not have the "dumping effect. They removed 90% of my stomach (took it out!!) And they made my pouch out of a part of the stomach that does not strech very easily. I think that I will be very pleased with the results.
Ok, seriously, the pain was not even close to what I expected. There were times when it really hurts, in & out of bed, adjusting and so on, but the WORST part was the heartburn. I suffered SO BAD with heartburn and FINALLY they called DR H and he said 'yeah, I thought she might need some meds for that." So I am on Prilosec twice a day. I SUFFERED ALL DAY FOR NOTHING!!! So if you have any heartburn.....DEMAND MEDS!! The ride home was fine. Did not get uncomfortable. And sleeping in a regular bed felt nice. I was finally able to roll to my side and I slept good.
So, all you prayer warriors, keep them coming. Can always use pray. But I am doing great and am enjoying the bench with the losers!
