Ok, everyone i need support.  Tomorrow i will start my liquid. I am more afraid of the next two week than i  am of the surgery itself. I have eaten so much in the last week that i still feel disgusted with myself.  So right now I'm looking for motivation. Any type of motivation to get me through the next two weeks.  Are there any trick to staying on the straight and narrow?  How much weight did you lose while doing your liquid?  Is it ok to exercise at this time? HELP

First off,  Good Luck to you!  Is your surgery on the 30th?  Are you having to do the liquids longer than 2 wks?  With the protein shakes I really didn't get hungry at all.  I just had some killer cravings.  I did cheat a couple times.  I think most people slip a little, we're only human.  Just try to keep the big prize in mind.  Remember what you're doing this for.   I lost 13 lbs during the 2 wks.   Some people lose more & some less.  Like everything else, everyone is different.   Again, Good Luck!!  You'll do great!!   (((HUGS)))  Angy

YOU will do great . i understand your nervousness it isnt easy to change the way you are doing things / Kist rememeber to keep your eyes on the prize ....i kept telling myself that i have already tasted everything there is to eat at least once and lots of them more than that , that was the reason i was the size i was. lol ...it is ok to exercise if you want to i dont see any reason not to. it might help you keep your mind on something else other than the lack of food. take care and keep being on here it will help....
to have people to talk to that have been there and done that. good luck.

Like Jan says, keep your eyes on the prize.  That's what I did.  I lost 12 lbs.  I worked 6 days out of the 2 weeks and my co-workers kept me on the straight and narrow.  I did get hungry but just kept thinking how important it was to stick to it.   I was told if I didn't follow instructions I could get into surgery and it would be cancelled if I hadn't followed the rules.  Sure didn't want that to happen.

Towards the end of the 2 weeks I got really tired and was glad to have 5 days off before surgery day.

I look back on it now and feel really proud that I did it.

Say Lady!!!

If I'm not mistaken your surgery is on the 22nd like mine  only 13 more days!!!! .... You know this next two weeks may be difficult but then YOU CAN DO IT!!!!  It really is a small price to pay for all the benefits you are going to get from the surgery once you have it and start shedding those lbs!

I have been doing a self imposed regimen  since August 22nd and I can see results already!!!  I fortunately do not have to do the two week liquid diet!!! but have been doing 2 shakes a day and a small meal at night, using a baby spoon to eat with (boy oh boy!!! has this been a real eye opener for me! but is helping me to learn to take tiny bites and chew well)... I have been walking 30 minutes a day and doing 15 minutes of upper body workout in a chair,  I do 50 breathing exercises a day also.   I make sure I drink 64 oz of water, and take EVERY dose of all my meds and vits. 3 x's a day.  I am hoping with just these changes pre~op I will make things a bit easier on myself post op?

You undoubtedly are going to experience hunger but like Jan says you just have to keep your eye on the prize!!! and it WILL PAY OFF!!!

My suggestion is try and stay busy so you are not constantly thinking of food all the time..... I nearly have my whole house cleaned from top to bottom! ~tee hee

I will be thinking of you and wishing you the very very best!

Yes my surgery is on the 22nd I don't know how i put the 30th in there. I know it is going to be hard and i will be keeping my eye on the prize but look for many more post from me until my date because day 1 has already been very hard.
Kudos to you for setting up your own regiment.  I know i have to take my meds, but my vitamins make me sick if i don't have something on my stomach, so i don't know what to do about that. In the meantime you keep up the great work.  I have to go and buy my baby spoon to train myself.

Lisa- 13 more to go.

My "secret" is to take Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup in a can, make it with water and then drain off the juice, give the noodles and chicken pieces to the dog and enjoy just the "juice". It saved me many times both before and after surgery. You can do it with any soup you like that you make with water. Don't know about the creamy ones - didn't risk that. I'm like Bec. I was obsessed with doing everything right and being the "perfect" patient. I wanted this surgery so badly and waited a long time and I was NOT going to do anything that might make it harder or not happen. My surgeon said I had a "beautiful" liver and I took that as a huge compliment.
You'll do fine. Just keep yourself occupied and you'll be so glad really soon.
Hugs and prayers.

"WLS is about making better choices, a healthier lifestyle and seeing how little you can eat.  Portion control is the key to all weight loss surgeries.  Bottom line - it isn't how much you can eat - it is how little you can eat."

Lisa,

Do you take your vits at the same time you drink your protein shake... that is helping me to take my meds and vits since some of the shakes are milk based.... at least it might help pre~op?

Some might think that baby spoon thing is silly but I tell you I have learned more from that than I have anything in a long long time.....  boy oh boy how much I can shove in my mouth and not even taste it all that much.... that baby spoon is making me stop and think about every bite I take and also it takes a bit for you to "feel" fullness and with the baby spoon you are eating slow enough you can get that feeling on much less food... don't get me wrong... I still want to eat a whole bunch and I've had to fight every day with the food thing... when you are used to eating as much as we have it's going to take time to re~adjust our thinking about things.....

You post as many many times as you need to ...... I certainly do not have the answers ..... to alot of things .... but I do have compassion and "feel" your pain!  I will pray that the Lord helps you thru this next 13 days... don't give up you WILL do this and do it with success!!!

The dear lady above was right I have worked way too hard and been thru way way too much to get where I am today not to do everything I can do to make this work!!! It's very very hard ..... but it's not the first time I have had to do HARD and I'm sure it won't be the last..... so be encouraged dear friend you are going to be so very pleased as I am at the results of all this hard work!!!
