over 60 BMI doctor
My 28 yr old daughter has a BMI over 60. I am trying to help her find a doctor that will operate on her. I am so scared she will die without it. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Vicky

JAN COOK
Hello,
Doc H. does have a weight limit of 450 according to his page yes, and I am under that weight but my BMI is over 60 according to the OH board ticker test. I like Jan dont know what your daughter's case is but if she is under that weight you may try Dr. Hornbostel of Sedalia he is WONDERFUL. I am sure he will be helping save my life!! I was approved just recently thru his office to have surgery on Nov. 14th, I hope he can help her too. I will pray for your daughter, my heart hurts for her, I know just how she feels and how my mother, who is traveling from Georgia to be with me thru this feels about me!! Good luck and may God bless you both!!

Good luck.
My BMI was over 80 when I had surgery. I couldn't find a doc here in MO or any of the surrounding state for that matter to do surgery on me. Not with medicare and medicaid. Insurance has alot to do with finding a doc--first find out what insurance she has and find a doc that will accept it. Then find out about weight limits. Also make sure there are no exemptions for WLS in her insurance plan. I had to go to Indiana to have my surgery but I am not sorry about it one bit. I had no complications. I had surgery in Janurary of this year and went from 557 lbs to around 320 by my calculations but eh that's another story in itself lol. Scales and I dont get along. lol This surgery will truely give her life. It definately gave me one. I don't think I even had a life before surgery---all I did was SIT. (well and eat of course) I went from 7 diabetic pills and 260 units of insulin a day to 1 pill and no insulin. I now sleep laying flat in a bed with no bi-pap machine from sitting in a chair and sleeping with the machine. Dont give up--or get discouraged. It took me years to finally find someone who took my insurance and would do surgery on me. I'd do it all again if I had to.

WOW! Thank you so much for the encouraging words. You brought made me get all choked up and start crying. I never think of myself as brave or an inspiration to anyone. I just wanted my life back. I'm really happy that I can inspire you and keep you motivated throughout this journey. We all need all the inspiration and motivation we can get. This is a very rough road we travel. Again thank you very much for the uplifting words. Makes me wanna go walk another mile :D but it's raining so I think I'll pass. And it's 11 at night on Saturday--too many crazies out there for me lol.
My new life has brought so many blessings I don't even think I can list them all. MOST of all I am now able to play ball with my nieces and nephews and go outside and swim and camp and well just do everything I never could before. Couldn't go camping because there was no where to plug in my bi-pap machine and it'd be too hot and no chair with an ottomon for me to sleep in. (I went camping for 4th of July and had the most awesome time EVER in my camping history...although I did shoot my brother with a air gun---I really didn't know it would hurt like it did.) I went to the town festival today and walked around instead of being pushed in a wheelchair. I haven't used my wheelchair since May---I did use it camping for a lawn chair---I was scared to sit in those fold up chairs--I guess that's the fat girl in me thinking it might break and I'd end up on the ground. I could go on and on about the blessing but I'll stop blabbing now lol.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DAY!!!
Always,
~Angie!
