Does gastric bypass have any effects on your periods?  I am on my first since surgery and on day 3.  Normally I only last 3 days and they are light.  Tonight however I am going through pads about once an hour for the past 3 hours.  I am passing clots so large they hurt and I can feel when they pass.  I no longer have a family dr as she quit while I was in columbia having my WLS and they have yet to find a replacement.  And I don't want to csll my bariatric dr for a period question lol.  I mean is the diet I am currently on effecting me this way?  Has anyone else had this happen?  When should I be concerned I am losing too much blood?

Is there any way you could be miscarrying?  My periods have gotten heavier since I had my surgery almost three years ago.  The diet could be doing it but there is no way to tell.  If I would you I would call your surgeon, I am sure they have heard it all before.  Let us know how you are doing.  God bless, penni

Jen.....

I don't know the "right" answer to your question but I do know in the two years I have been reading here I have heard quite a few ladies say they have the had the same thing happen.... so maybe it's not all that abnormal???

Just thought that might ease your mind a bit .. but would still call and ask.... I'm sure that nurse has "heard it all" ~ha

I knowwhat you mean about the periods.  I had my bypass on July 31 and had a three day period the 8-11 then I started again the 31st of August.   This most recent period is really heavy, no clots though just very heavy flow.  I have never been a regular person anyway however now that I am loosing weight I think that my body is getting to the way it may have been trying to be all along?  Just a thought though.

I've had 3 cycles in 7 weeks, uggggg! But I can tell you that when I talked to my Surgeon's Nurse she told me that it was my body's way of readjusting to the weight loss and surgery, she said it could be like that for up to a year (egaaads!)

I'm praying that it isn't that way but only time will tell! I hope that you get to feeling better soon! XOXO

No, no miscarriage going on.  My tubes are tied.  However the issue seems to have gotten better overnight.  Thanks for replying.  I hope this is not going to be a trend.  I would be stuck homebound for a week once  month lol.
