Okay so this has been a HUGE issue for me.  I have always had to drink a little at least with my meals because sometimes it feel like things stick.  So how do you deal with this?  I don't drink alot just sips and if my tummy is full it won't allow me to drink anyways.  It will come back up.

Jen;
It is best not to drink so you don't wash your food out of your pouch too soon. But, if you need to drink a little, you won't do yourself harm. Hope this helps.

Jen i have never been able to not have a sip of water or two with my meals too. I have extremely dry mouth and i never produce enough saliva so i usually have to take a tiny sip to help get my food to the mushy stage. i dont drink just sip .

Jen, I too have always sipped along with my meals. I dont know how anyone stands not to. But I dont drink 2 or 3 glasses of drink with a meal like I used to.  Just hang in there and try to drink as little as possible....

At first I didn't drink anything for 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after meals.  I am almost 3 years out and I do sip every once in a while (very seldom because I am use to it now).  It is so funny because when I go to a resturant when the waiter asks me what I want to drink and I say nothing they do everything they can to just bring me water.  Now, I just ask for water so the waiter will stop asking me.  In this country we all drink with our meals.  When I went to Taiwan it was like pulling teeth to get someone to bring me something to drink.  When I would ask for a drink they would just look at me wierd and bring this tiny cup which I had to be refilled several time during the meal (that was before surgery of course).  It wouldn't hurt for you to sip a few sips with food but it is best if you don't.  Good luck and God bless, Penni

I dont drink or sip at all!!! I did one time when I had tuna and I burped and burped until everything I ate came back up. It felt like it was swelling up in my chest and it came back up!! I do fine with tuna with NO drink 30 min before or after... I am use to it now and dont plan on sipping at all.
