Ok you old timers, I've got a question for you!!!

What protein source do you try to keep with you, in case you get in a bind? I was out and about today for longer than I had anticipated. All of a sudden, I got that weak, I've got to have some energy now, feeling. Remember, I'm only on stage 2 right now, but would also like ideas for later on.

Now remember, I'm in Osceola, which has nothing but a grocery store, so I went in and found the healthiest peanut butter they had and went to the car and ate a little. Instantly felt better. I thought about milk later and could have gotten that, but thought it would be nice to have something for emergencies in the car.

Thanks in advance!

I never thought of veinna sausages I will do that!  I always have a protein bar with me in my purse.  I would recommend that.  I don't know about stage 2.  You probably were having a blood sugar low, that happens to me.  I think what you did was good.  Anything that works for you is fine.  I will sometimes get a spoon of peanut butter myself when I am feeling low.  You could have also grabbed low sugar yogurt.  Hope that helped alittle.  Congrats on your surgery and have a great day!  God bless, Penni

I always have a can of tuna at work but in the car it's a protein bar.

Hi Liz:

I guess I'm an old timer. LOL......... What I do is keep Peanut butter crackers in my car. They are very low in sugar. The ones at Wal Mart that come about 12 in a box for about 2 dollars.

Protein bars are good to keep in the car also. I don't know about stage two. I would guess if you chewed really good the crackers would work.

Milk be careful with because all milk including skim has about 12 grams of sugar which is way too much for most of use. I use Carb Countdown it only has 3 grams and has some protein as well. Comes in Chocolate and white. I buy it at Walmart.

Hope I helped. Maybe someone else will answer your question as well.

Hugs; Barbara

hey watch who  you call old around here lol . guess what i keep in the car for emergencies will seem really strange but it works....doesnt melt no matter how hot it gets. wont ruint. or spoil or go stale.   a can of viennia sausages...there are about 9 in a can and 3 of them have 5 grams of protein. these are the ones made with chicken, beef and pork.
Other than that i usually always have a protein bar in my purse.
