Anyone in my area

Is anyone from the warrensburg/knob noster/sedlia area. Just sent paperwork in to dr. and waiting for appt now. Not sure what to expect.

I live in Holden, close to Warrensburg.  You are in good hands; Dr. Hornbostel is the *******et me know if you need anything.

there are a lot in that area that used Dr. H and a lot of us that arent in that area that used him...he is a great great surgeon. doesnt use drains so you dont have to drink that nasty blue stuff to check his work...he says he used to use drains but found the ones without did better than the ones that had the drains. ....he is just a wonderful doctor. you sent in your paper work , Now someone will call you to come in and see him and he will tell you if he will accept you as a patient but they have already looked over the papers and know that they will accept you . if they wereent they would call you and tell you so.
after that he sends your paper work into your insurance for approval then they will call you later to come in for pre ops and a surgery date. In the meantime you have to see a nutty doctor to see if you understand what you are going to do and have the mental ability to follow the rules.
not a lot of classes and stuff with him , he does require you to do 2 week diet but just started that about last year. ...be sure and go to support groups even before surgery it will help you after.

    I am not Patty but I too have Dr Hornbostel.  My surgery date is set for September 29, 2008. (The day my real life begins!!)  I have my tests scheduled for 09/16 and 09/17.  I like Dr Hornbostel and love Margie!  Any hints, suggestions or big tips?

my biggest suggestion is that during your liquid diet and when you feel like you are not losing like you want to just keep your eye on the prize and remember the reasons that you are doing this for in the first place and it will help you get through the tough times.  Especially when you are on that liquid diet and you want something to eat so bad that you can't stand it. (I chewed ice to get me through)  And remember that we on this board are here to answer any questions and to lend support any way we can, because others did it for us.  Good luck,  Layla

I have waited so long to for this to happen, (tried years ago and insurance denied) that I will constantly remember the reasons!  I start my liquid diet 30 days from today and Dr Hornbostel told me how important it is so I will keep that in my mind too!! Thanks for the advice and I am glad I found this Missouri site.
