WHATS HAPPENING FOR THURSDAY

Happy Anniv. Jan!!!

Still going to physical therapy but now its every 2 weeks.  I have a regiment of exercise for my legs and feet that I am supposed to do twice a day and ride my bike at least 3 to 4 times a week.  I have had so much improvement in my feet and legs since I got the bike.  Still have a little problem finding the right gear to use for the hills but I still keep on peddling!

Going to Kansas City for the day Saturday to see my new great-nephew.  Must be something going on there as we couldn't get a hotel room so with 3 drivers we can do the 3 hour trip home without any problems - LOL.

Made an apple pie for Dad using splenda and he asked me to leave out the nutmeg with the next one I make.  I kind of went overboard using fresh nutmeg which I did not measure just grated it in.  So will measure on the next one.  Have to make another blackberry pie to take with us as its a request from my neice and I can't turn her down!

It is so frustrating finding clothes to fit.  My 14's are to big but the 12's are to tight around my tummy.

To top everything off my male schanauzer Taylor is getting close to me having to make the appointment to have him put to sleep.  I am not going to let him suffer.  His tumors are getting bigger and he is having more trouble breathing with exertion but he still has the wiggle in his tail and his doggie kisses so its not time yet.  I dread the day as my little female Cassie will probably go into a depression with Taylor gone.  Plus the outside cat who is at least 19 years old is getting thinner and thinner - she was my Mom's cat and it took me 2 years to get her to at least let me pick her up.  Darn pets - they are members of our family and we love them so much.

Holding at 138 pounds right now - its amazing what this past year and a half has done - its been a wild ride so to speak.  After my hernia surgery I don't ever want to have another surgery!

Good Evening Jan & MO Peeps!

Been a little busy today.  Got my hair done, went grocery shopping and did a couple loads of laundry.  I have a whole list of things to get done before Bec gets here Monday morning.  Thankfully, my dh and boys will be helping me.  :)

Jan, your flowers are always so beautiful!  Wish I had that green thumb of yours.  Maybe you could "loan" it to me for a season?  lol!

Doesn't look like dh and I will be making it to the reunion this year.  Turns out that weekend is the Hidden Glen Arts Festival and my husband's troop's charter organization expects all the scouts (and of course the Scout Master) to be there to help with all the buses and the people coming and going.  Needless to say, I'm bummin!  I was really looking forward to see you and everybody else again this year!  Maybe next year.

Bec - you sweet thing you!  I'm just so glad the good Lord brought us together.  He knew that we would really like each other and we could help each other along the way!  I'm so glad to be able to offer you a place to stay that is close to the doctor's office.  Just hated the thought of you having to make two trips up here in less than a week.  Plus the sooner you get those tests out of the way, the sooner you will be cleared for surgery!  I'm excited for my family to meet you and for you to meet my family!

Janet - I'm with you.  The Lord will take care of Bec and she will get her surgery on September 22, 2008.  We all will keep praying about that one!  Sorry to hear all the stuff you and your family are going thru.  ((((((Janet))))))  Yes, I will give Bec a special hug just from you and remind her how much you love her!  :)

The rest of you WONDERFUL MO PEEPS - I can't always address each of you personally, like Jan can do.  But I do read all your posts and I do pray for all of you.  You are all like family!

My oldest son, Luke, his 18th Birthday is tomorrow!  He was born at 12:39 a.m. via emergency c-section.  I wish this old woman could stay up until then and then go wake him up and tell him "Happy 18th Birthday" at the exact moment he came into this world.  However, I doubt that I will be able to stay awake that late!  We're having family and a few of Luke's friends over Saturday night for Nachos and Tacos.  I've still got to order that D**** Cream Cake.  Can't forget to do that!  Luke started a new job tonight.  He's a Host at Whiskey Creek.  I told him I didn't think he'd like working in the food industry, but he said he wanted to try it.  At least it's here in town.  I did make an appointment for his Senior Pictures to be taken September 20th.  I will post them when I get them.

Jake, my youngest son, is over his pink eye and viral infection.  He is so looking forward to football practice that starts Monday right after school.  I've gotta go buy him a new pair of cleats.  He wears a 10.5 and his from last year are 9.5.  Boy, oh, boy do they grow.  Jake is only 13 and already 5'11".  Luke is 6'2" and I really think Jake will be taller than Luke.  Not bigger but taller.  We will see.

I'd better scoot.  Think I'm going to try and finish up the couple loads of laundry and get to bed.  Want to try and get up early and get my list started on.  At least I had already cleaned the office/guest bedroom.  That is where Bec is going to be staying on Monday.

Have a good night,

Well this is the day I have been waiting for. The day when I could eat something that I could chew..I fixed my tuna all up and was so excited to taste it. I must have been overly excited because it came back up faster than it went down so won't be doing that for awhile..What did I do wrong. I think I ate to fast. I didn't eat very much though. I filled one of those little medicine cups up and chewed and chewed. About the 2nd bite felt like I had a lump in my chest. Anyway I waited until this evening and ate some tomato soup. That went down well but I don't want to eat soup for the rest of my life...What to do...

Jan thank you for the advice  about the citracal petites. I have some of those but I was afraid they were to big also..but I will try it. I don't want to have to cut them down as it feels like all I am doing is taking pills..will I ever get used to this....

Bec don't worry to much about your stress test, it is kind of scary only because you don't know what to expect. I have had 2 of them and a treadmill and they are not so bad. I think everyone that has high blood pressure etc has to have them. My doc told me my ankles swelled some but I thought it was just fat..lol....

Good to see you back on the board Janet..Don't stay away to long. I love hearing what is going on in your life...

I'm glad everyone made it thru their surgeries and are now on the down hill slide.

I can get my rings on again. I have not been able to wear them for about 5 yrs. That is just a little wow moment but an important one.

Sugar I am really glad you found your rings. I had a locket stolen that my dad had given my mom when they got married. I was just sick about that. Some things money just can't replace...

Sure do wish I could come to the reunion, I really would like to but I don't see anyway. Not this year anyway..

Guess I had better get off here. Sorry for not posting more. I sit down to type something and my mind just goes blank..I will try though...

One more question? Do you all remember what the 1st thing was that you ate and chewed that stayed with you..I am going to have to do better as I want to get some of my protein thru eating rather than all drinks..I know I can't get much at 5 weeks but I can work up to it...

I put my one month pics up but I don't see much difference yet. Only my clothes are getting bigger and bigger....

Bev B,
I think the first thing I ate was scrambled eggs with cheese or Taco Bell Refried Beans with cheese. I really don't remember which tells you something about either my mind or the fact that what we could eat becomes less important as time passes.

I still love scrambled eggs, add FF 1/2 & 1/2 when I beat them and one egg is plenty. I cook them really softly - done but still moist. I add grated cheese and sometimes Pace Picante sauce on top. I do know that the first fast food I ate was Taco Bell beans. I was out shopping and found that I really needed food and they sure hit the spot.
Most old timers know that I practically lived on cottage cheese for awhile - put salsa on it for lunch every day. Then I sort of went through a time of lactose intolerance and didn't eat it but I'm back to eating it for lunch several days a week only now I eat it with SF applesauce. I really don't eat a tremendous variety of things - just get in the protein. I like tuna salad and eat it on saltines - I know they are sliders but I gotta have something to crunch. I make my tuna salad with white tuna, real mayo, dried dill and celery seed. I'm too lazy to chop celery!!! Again, it's not too important to me how it tastes, just to get it done. At dinner I eat whatever I'm making for DH but lots less - hamburgers, grilled chicken, hot dogs, Swiss steak, scampi, stir fry are a few things I make. I rarely eat the bun and make my hamburger not cooked too hard and add cheese on top to get in more protein. Grilled chicken we eat on salads lots of time and for some reason I can eat LOTS of salad if it is made with iceberg lettuce and I chew well. Hott dog is with spicy catsup and no bun, Swiss steak I make with cube steaks cooked with tomatoes, onions and peppers and cooked a long time so it's moist and tender. Scampi is really good to me - I don't eat any rice or pasta with it and the same with stir fry - I have done pork and chicken - prefer the pork and try to only eat the top of the broccoli. I still have trouble with white chicken unless it is pounded really thin and cooked really quickly. Can't do sausage - makes me nauseous just to think of it. Guess I've written a book about what I eat but many folks wonder what we do when we're further out and I guess that's about it for me. For breakfast I do a protein shake with crystal lite, ice and two scoops of protein powder and either cottage cheese or a piece of raisin toast. I know it's not "good" but I just have trouble with breakfast during the week when I have to go to work. Scrambled eggs are the weekend fare.
By the way, bacon tastes great and sits well with me. Who would have believed that??? BLT with one slice of toast is a feast for me.
Hope you continue to do well - I know you will. I believe the goal is not to worry too much about what you can eat. Just get the food in that you can eat and eventually it will all work out for you.
If you like chicken try putting boneless skinless thighs in the crock pot with Pace Picante sauce and cooking a long time. That is a good soft easy to eat chicken meal.
Hugs and love,
Lana
