I had my rny april 2008, when I starting being able to eat normal foods maybe 2 mo's out. I swar I ate almost everything my pouch let me, I had felt so deprived. I secretly thought I was going to be the first failure in under 6 mo's! I could (and did sometimes) eat a cereal bowl of food, usually something with carbs, they go down so much easier than alot of the healthier things. Well I posted on here questioning the protein, and found out I was taking it all wrong, I was trying to get in all 60g in one sitting to "get it over with", well according to the good people here you can only absorb 30 g at a time , so for 3 mo's I was only getting half of the min. required protein. Well folks I decided to grow up  instead of trying to find a way to weasel out of my responsibility to my self! I (for the last week or so) I get up, drink 30g protein, then at around lunch I eat a high protein bar 20 g, then later in the evening I drink another 30g drink. yOU KNOW WHAT? i am no longer hungry!! SERIOUSLY, my hubby got after me when I realized I was only eating 1 small meal a day , one day it was a half cheese sandwich, a couplle of day's it was only the bar. Moral of the story....GET YOUR PROTEIN!!!!! it tastes nasty but no excuses!!! you need it to live

Suzy you would be surprised at the number of people that have this surgery and then try everyway they can to weasel out of their responsibility. they try to eat things that they arent suppose to just because they want to then they cry that they arent losing weight. well duh.
the 30 mg an hour of protein i questioned too and i wrote several companies about it and they said there was a report that mayo had done way back when. i cant find it but ---if the companies didnt think that was right im sure they would pushing us to drink more an hour dont you?
as you get farther along you will need to up that protein intake too. but your husband is right too you need at least 1000 calories a day to just exist. so maybe you need to do like im doing and write it all down there are several places on computer that you can do it online. I am barely getting 1000 but im trying. and am feeling so much better. more power to you for realizing early that you are responsible for your health....

Protein, protein, protein!  As a matter of fact I am sitting here eating a Perfect Zone bar (210 calories and 15 grams of protein).. This one is peanut toffee and I love them.  So good!  Well good luck with your protein intake and God bless, Penni
