This week on the liquid diet has been hard.  I'm not hungry, but I really want food!!!  Is it easier after surgery?  Do you still want food at first or do you lose your interest in it?  I've heard people say that they didn't want food & that they had to make theirselves eat.  I find it hard to believe that I wouldn't want food, but I hope that's how it is.  Please tell me it get's easier.  This is gonna be a long 4 more weeks (3 wks post op is when we can have semi-solid foods).

AMEN!!! This is soooo hard for me. This is truely a test. I am nervous because I am soooooo hungry! I am hoping and praying that I wont want food. And, that I dont want food, but i know this surgery doesnt cure the cravings and the head problems just a tool to help us with our eating... But, I am really worried about what if I cant make it the 2 weeks, then this surgery isnt for me? OMG! I am really hungry and the shakes suck!! LOL. I just keep reminding myself that I am going to look great and feel great in about 2-3 months and this is well worth it. Any suggestions for us newbies? ( to surgery ) We are scared and nervous of failure... who isnt? thanks!

Im with Shelia, if you all have been paying attention to what im going thru, I am really havint a big problem making myself eat to get in enough calories. My mind has just turned completly off food. But you cant do that either. It is a balancing act always. This isnt an easy way out , it will always be something that is thought out daily. Enough food for calorie intake for your body to work, no junk, enough protein , enough water. Portion control always.   you wont fail no one does with this surgery unless they eat too many carbs and stuff that they shouldnt eat.
love you all and hope i have helped some.

YES!
it gets easier....the physical aspect of being hungry will diminish if not vanish entirely
the head hunger will always be there...Ive had a few moments in my yr since surgery that I have made myself sick because of my head wanting this food or that food....listen to your BODY
of course each time I got sick from eating to fast or to much...makes it easier not to want to do THAT again!
its taken you how long to get this way????
well plzz give yourself time to relearn all those bad habits
and BTW....the liquid diet is for a safer surgery...you will eat real food again...just NOT the amounts you eat now. enjoy this time...get all the shakes in you need. I had to drink 5 a day and I filled in the blank space of my tummy with sf popsicles and broth.
I am almost never "hungry" but there are times when my head just screams for a certain something.....now after a yr its almost always bariatric safe...like Tostado from Gringos!!! yumm yummm

It will get easier.  Also after surgery you really dont want to eat so it really isnt that long without food.  I had the same surgeon.  It is well worth it and the time will fly by.  I chewed on ice it gave me the crunch I needed.  Good luck, Raynetta
