Question About Vitamins for pre op
I went to walmart this evening.... I bought Calcium 600mg with vitamin D, B-100 amd childrens multi vitamin plus iron. Is all this okay? I just want to make sure I am taking the right stuff. Also, I dont know what to do? I was told by the nurse that slim fast optima was fine then I wasnt getting enuff protein, so I exchanged it for High protein because I thought I was needing more protein... They dont have low carb at any of the walmarts around me... I am soooo confused on what to take... I am getting different stories from different ppl... HELP!!!
just make sure your calcium is calcium citrate, not calcium carbonate. they say we can use the carbonate as it doesnt work with our new digestive system... I dont know what to tell you about the slim fast except that after surgery there are way too many carbs in it for us to drink. I have tasted that stuff once in my life and i hated it.....when you first have surgery you need chewables but by the time you are 2 months out you should be able to swallow pills. I bought Centurum Chewables for my first two months and now buy all my vits. from Puritian Pride....cheap and do the job......

Lori, did you not get the photocopy sheet that was an actual photocopy of the bottles that Dr. Hornbostel recommends with walmart prices? If not let me know and I will let you know the ones that are on there.
Also on that day I got a sheet that starts off with "READ YOUR BOOK, READ YOUR BOOK, READ YOUR BOOK" (their caps not mine :>)). On that sheet it sayes to ONLY use SLIM FAST HIGH PROTEIN OR THE GLUCOSE CONTROL BOOst (the slim fast high protein is not the optima, it actually comes in a yellow box and only has 4 premixed in it, or the powder can is yellow colored also. It sayes to not substitute other products that may have the same brand name, but not the same protein or carb/sugar formulation. It says to also please not substitute other "generic brands". (The last part I got out of our white binder!)
I got these sheets from the lady that pressed her thumb into my arm so hard, trying to show me how hard the Dr. pushes on the liver. Remember, the one I wanted you to pop for me :.))) (I'm actually not violent, and she did get her point across!!!! :.)) Anyway, if you didn't get them and need any other info let me know.
