hello all,
I am wondering if there is affordable protein for ppl on a limited income? I cant find isopure anywhere? I was going to try it but I want to sample them first. Does GNC have samples of them? I live right by the mall and there is a GNC there... I guess I could call. LOL. I am just wondering... where else I could look? Where does everyone get their b-100? If u know of any online places or a drugstore please let me know... I cant afford expensive viles of protein that is only good for one serving.... HELP!!!

Lori,
Hi. I'm on day 3 of the liquid diet. I'm also limited in my income as I stay at home with our three kiddos while my husband works. The protein powder I've been using is from Wal-Mart and is called Body Fortress. It's about $14 and some change. It comes in like a 2 pound container. I think there are probably better tasting proteins out there, but this is the only one I've tried so I don't have much to compare it too. It's not bad though. I'm planning on ordering some Nectar from vitacost.com as it is about $25 per container there. I hear it's supposed to taste good.

Good luck. Let me know if you find anything really great.

If I were you I would wait until after you have your surgery. What I really liked before surgery I can't stand the taste now. Your taste will change drastically. I couldn't have any protein except clear protein for the first 10 days after surgery. That would be the Isopure drinks. You might want to get a bottle or 2 of that. Otherwise I went with the unflavored whey protein as I can't stand the smell of anything else yet..

It is sooooo true that your tastes may change drastically after surgery. Mine did. The sweet smell of the powders made me gag!  I do now drink the Isopure ready to drink bottles and that is what the hospital gave me to drink while there.  They even sent me home with about a case of them. So you might ask while there or even before you go. I bought my last few cases on line with GNC.com but they were on sale. I looked last night and they didnt have anything on sale. But you can download a coupon for $5 off at the store so you can go try a bottle or 2. At the store I think they are over $4 a bottle. I know that sounds high but when you consider the cost of the powder and then what you mix it with, I think they are comparable. I bought enough from the online store when it was on sale that hopefully it will last until they throw another sale. I got mine for a little under $3 per bottle on sale.  And if you buy $75 at a time they give you free shipping right to your door so you save gas money driving to and from the store.  You can sign up to get notices on line from them of sales and stuff....My favorite flavors are the icy orange and grape frost.  Hope this helps some.  You girls who are waiting to join us on the loser's bench are being prayed for by alot of people!  GOD bless....

I finally got a GNC gold card and that helps with so much off each time I use it and then GNC has the sale after the 1st of the month.  I have found the grape frost to be my favorite also and then the grape bulitts I add to a bottle of water with a packet of splenda.  I can't tolerate the body fortress shakes anymore.  I did get creative and mixed yogurt and strawberries & bananas in the blender to make a smoothie.  You can get creative!

Also post op I found Medi Health in Columbia has samples and I got the 15 gm protein jello.  Its a little pricy but I had to get the protein in.  Each packet makes 4 ounces of jello and there is 5 packets in a box.  The little disposable cups with lids from Glad were just right for my portions.

Abby at MO Bariatrics said that we can have Nectar mixed with water that first week home, she said it will count as a clear liquid.  It is about $25/2 lb tub, so that will be much cheeper than the isopure, but I havent tried any of it yet.  you can get free samples of Nectar by calling this # & requesting them.    1-866-333-7403 you will probably have to leave a voice mail, but they will call you back in a short while.
