I am needing to find a support group that would include those that have had roux-en-y.  I moved here from St Louis a few years ago and have not found one but I haven't been looking too hard either.  I have decided it's time to get back into the swing of things.  I was doing really well then I changed addictions...I went from drinking to eating.  I would love to meet people that I can relate to so if you are in the KC area and know of some support goups, dietician etc please let me know

Hi Debbie,

Send an e-mail to Debbie at [email protected].  Debbie would be glad to give you a listing of the ObesityHelp support group leaders in Missouri.

Also, you can check out online OH Groups which are online support groups in Missouri too.  They are in beta testing but you can join any one or all if you'd like.  The support group leaders have their meeting information on their front page.  Go to www.obesityhelp.com/group

Addiction transfer is common and is one of the topics that is discussed at support group meetings.

Best of luck, Cathy

Hello,
We have had a support group in Lee's Summit, Missouri for awhile. We have not been able to meet for the last couple of months, some of which is due to attendance. I am not sure what to tell you except for the fact that Colette was our leader and we really enjoyed the discussions that we had. I know for a fact that a support system helps. I have officially lost 165 pounds, but in the next few days I will have actually hit my 170 pound loss.  If anyone knows of a support group, even in the Overland Park area, please respond. Thanks, Mrsvegg

Thanks for replying.  Congrats on your weight loss!!!  That is wonderful!  I remember how happy I was when I reached that point.  I went to a support group in Lenexa at Institue for Advanced Bariatric Surgery but it was led by a lady who was just 1 yr out or so.  The one I attended in St Louis was done by a woman who worked for my surgeon.  Mayve it shouldn't make a difference.  The one here was not structed with a topic or anything so was disappointing to me.  I just need to get back on track.  Hopefully I can find a group.  Thanks,Deb
