2 Week Pre-Op Visit with Surgeon

I met with my surgeon as well as the dietician, physiologist and psychologist.  The doctor says I'm doing great.  I'm extremely tired and sleep and he thinks I may be a little dehydrated.  I also need to make sure I get in the 60 grams of protein.  I'm to have 3 meals a day and 1 protein drink.  I need to get my exercise in and that should help with the tiredness.

Learning to eat so slowly is really difficult for me.  I chew, chew and chew but I tend to eat too fast.  Seems like I'm eating really slow but then I get that pain in the chest.

Jo, I'm happy to hear that you are getting along better.

Went for my preop blood work today, chest x-ray, and EKG at St. Luke's.  I'm ready for Dr. Price to stick me with the Realize Band.  I'll be his first patient using the new model so to speak.

Jo if you were able to get in a lot of high protein food i wouldnt be as worried about you only doint one protein shake a day but i know you cant at 2 weeks out, heck at 2 years out i cant get enough in ... they say that we only absorb about 50% of things with the malaborption that is caused by the re adjustmnet to our intestins. so if that is the case then only about 1/2 of protein is digested too except if it is 100% whey isolates (like in protein drinks) and if you need at least 60 a day and you only have one protein shake which is anywhere from 24 to 30 grams that still leaves 30 more to get only from food .....good idea but at two weeks out you cant eat enough,,,,try it keep track and count all the protein you eat in food and devide it in half and see how much you get. ok?  want you to do well and not getting enough protein will cause lots of problems.

I have been keeping track in my head (you can imagine how accurate that is) but today I'm going to start writing down what I eat and pay attention to protein.  The dietician said I should be eating 3 meals a day with 2 oz. of protein at each meal and one protein drink a day.

It's not happening.  I can't eat 2 eggs at once like she suggested.  I can only eat about 1 oz. of chicken or fish.  Two weeks out seems a little early for 3 meals a day.

I bought Muscle Milk yesterday and don't care much for the taste.  Don't like the bullets either but I get them down.  I did exercise for 30 minutes yesterday using a bike and I do feel better today.

I need to sign up with one of the programs where you put in what you eat and it gives you a breakdown.

Thanks for the advice Jan.
