Surgery One Week Ago Today
I went in on July 8th and was taken back for preparation immediately. Of course, I sat there with this hugh "off the shoulder" gown waiting for the nurse to come in. Time seemed to crawl. The surgeon had an emergency so my surgery was delayed an hour. It got underway about 11:30. It described it as difficult because of my build but was able to complete laproscopically. I made it to my room at 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday is kind of a blur. I was brought a tray of coffee, OJ and something else which I told them I couldn't have. A bowl of cream of wheat was brought and I had a few bites. Thursday started about 4 a.m. with severe nausea and vomiting and that went on all day. The nausea continued into Friday. I was certainly having buyers' remorse and thinking fat wasn't so bad.
I got cream of wheat, vegetable soup broth (wouldn't touch any food that looked like that), very thick white pudding and lemonade. I did eat a little of the pudding.
My doctor thought I would do better at home and I have. Saturday I was still wondering what had I done! Each day since that has been better. I was a big water drinker and now water tastes awful. Yesterday I got in my protein. My tastes have changed so much. Pre-op I was mixing shakes with water and now I can't tolerate them made with water.
The belching is pretty bad but it's just DH and me at home and he doesn't mind. I forget when taking a drkin to make it a sip and that can be painful.
I know my journet to a new life is just beginning.

take it easy it will all work out soon. if you cant stand water by itself , can you stand crystal lite mixed in with it? you must have your water. that is all there is to it , if you dont get it you will get dehydrated and you dont want to go there. for us it usally means a trip to the hospital and very very sick. so start getting water in no matter what you have to do. and remember to sip sip sip all day long.
