Hi Debbie , well you know how to open a can of worms dont you? lol If you ask 20 different post ops what is the best protein drink you will get probably at least 10 different answers. Myself I use the ON 100% Whey Protein, I love it and i use the vanilla so i can flavor it how ever i want . but now my sister cant stand it and uses the Isopure ready to drink and loves it. and i think myself that the Isopure would be great if you like it because you can even drink it during the clear liquid diet you will be on after surgery, because it is see thru and you can start getting your protein in really early that way.
So that is two of them right there , just make sure what ever protein drink you get is 100% Whey Isolates , that we get all of the benifit of the protein that way.

I had to do a 2 wk liquid diet and I chose to use the high protein slim fast.  I had to do 5 shakes a day.  I tried the boost but found that the slim fast in the powder was the best for me.  I didn't like the ones in the cans they left a metal taste in my mouth that I didn't like but the powder was great and cheaper.  I now use what Jan uses the ON gold standard 100% whey protein that I get at GNC but when that is gone (which it almost is) I'm going to try this other one that I have heard good reports about it is called "Max Protein" by Energic Nutrition some GNC's carry it but I haven't really looked for it yet.  I have tons of protein shake recipes if your interested pm me and send me your email address and I will send them to you.  Good luck on your journey and stay positive cause the liquid diet phase isn't easy but hang in there you will get through it.

I use the Max Protein from GNC and really like it. I have never used the ON gold standard. I mix it then set in the frig till it is really cold.  You mix it with water instead of milk and it still taste great. I'm not sure if you can drink it on the liquid diet before surgery.

Hey Debbie,  For our pre-op diet I got ALOT of the Slim Fast Lo-Carb  I havent found it in the powder, just in the RTD cans, but I really like it.  I also got some lo carb Carnation Instant Breakfast, and some Atkins drinks.  I do want to order some Syntrax Nectar  to have something other than milky drinks, its more like Crystal lite from what I've heard.  I also want to order some ISO Pure that Jan is talking about, but I'm not sure where to get that from I've only found flavored stuff.  And last, I want to get some 100% Any Whey, it's unflavored & you can cook with it.   I appologize that I havent tried any of these yet (except for the Slim Fast) & can't give any kind of input as far as how they taste.  If you want to try some before ordering I know that Vitalady sells samples for $1.99.  I was wanting to get some samples, but I seem to be running out of time.

Stay stong with the non smoking!   You can do it!   You have to for this surgery & I'm expecting a walking buddy @ the hospital.  lol

Hi there!  I found the EAS 100% Whey Protein - Vanilla (23 grams of protein per scoop) at Hy-Vee here in the KC Metro area.  It's great and I mix it with 1/2 c. fat-free skim milk, a "dash' of splenda, and a "dash" of cinnamon.  Once that has all mixed well I then add some crushed ice.......depending on how much you care for........and it makes the best "smoothie" (mock frappacino) that I've had in a while!  I'm only 2.5 weeks out of surgery and it's working well for me at this time because I'm not having issues with inability to deal with lactose.  That may change down the line, but for now, it's a great way for me personally to get in my protein grams............---Shelley
