I have noticed alot of ppl still have soda and carbs and other stuff that you arent supposed to. Do most ppl do this? I know it is okay to have a little but is it true as long as u watch ur intake it is okay to have? I am not a soda drinker, but just curious...

i was a big soda drinker before surgery, i dont drink it now not even once in a while . too many carbs and we dont need them so why drink it
once in a while when Joe has some really great looking dessert i will take a tiny tiny bite and savor it in my mouth for awhile and most of the time i realize it is way to sweet amd doesnt really taste that good anyway.
so to your answer no i dont think a lot of people do this , maybe the ones that do want their cake and eat it too..
the thing about a little is that it grows into a lot sooner or later. as the saying goes . one isnt enought and two is too many.
so are carbs they are addictive and what got us into this mess of being fat in the first place.

Thanks!!! I was just wondering because I have noticed even at some support group meetings that ppl drink and eat stuff they shouldnt... I have decided once I have the surgery I dont want soda or the carbs!! I am going to TRY to work the lifestyle change the best I can. I know several ppl that break the rules. But, I started getting use to no soda and stuff that I shouldnt have. Altho, I will have a LAST SUPPER. LOL. I know ppl slip, but I dont want to FALL!!! So, I am trying to get rid of those old habits now!! Thanks for reading.

Our tummys cant take the carbination from the soda either!!! We have enough issues with gas, we dont need to add more. My Dr said that i could take a diet, caffiene free soda and set it out on the counter for a day and let it go flat...then I could drink it. WHAT IS THE POINT??? lol! Just wanted to put my 2cents in.

You are so right, i cant imagine why we would really want to drink the stuff when it is a know fact that it isnt good for anyone let alone us. we dont need to fill our tummys with something like that when we could be getting a good drink of protein in instead.

I wasnt just talking about soda, I was talking about carbs too. How much is okay? I know alot isnt good, but in moderation it is okay, right?

I used to be a big soda drinker and really missed it at first but now it doesn't bother me every once in a while I might take a sip of my sisters but that's it for me one taste goes a long way.  Since surgery everything has a much stronger taste (sweeter then normal) and it's like things are too sweet now so can't eat them your taste buds do change a little.  Carbs are bad I know but I do eat some carbs if I didn't I wouldn't eat anything at all cause it seems like the carb stuff sets best on my tummy for me but I do have to watch it to make sure I'm not eating bad carbs a lot.  Check the carbs on lables and buy everything you can with no carbs or low carbs. some things you can't get in stores but you can find websites that offer low carb items.

Just a few thoughts.  Carbonated beverages will not harm your operation after the first month, BUT, carbonated beverages can cause significant cramps, and can enhance emptying and digestion of whatever you've eaten, to the point of promoting dumping syndrome.  MOSugar summarized our feelings on it pretty accurately.  Thanks.

Carbs:  all fruits and vegetables (except for a little fat in bananas) are pure carbs.  Not all carbs are bad for you.  BUT the carbs to avoid are simple and processed carbs:  pursue the "no white" diet for a simple guideline.  Avoid foods that have sugar, flour or corn syrup, as well as potatoes, pasta, rice, chips, crackers, pretzels.  Generally stay away from processed "snack" type foods and potatoes/rice.  The goal is to limit processed carbs to less than 25 grams/meal and less than 100 grams/day.  If you can do that, you'll continue to lose weight.  Not everyone in support group is doing well; 1/4 of patients with a gastric bypass or sleeve, and 2/3 of patients with a band, will regain over 50% of their excess weight loss.  Beware!  Dr. Hornbostel

VERY TRUE, I was one of those in the  1/4 of gastric patients that was gaining weight back,  thank goodness I caught myself in time and am now back to losing weight.  I was drinking  soda, eating snacks that I wasnt suppose too etc.  I wasnt staying away from the white foods.   Im here to tell ya its EASY to get back into the bad routine so really, do BEWARE cuz it will happen if your not careful.  Keep excersising or at least walking, since I've started walking again I feel so much better and its boosted my energy level and is helping get the pounds off.  While eating the wrong foods I really thought I broke my pouch, it seems ok but I dont get the full feeling like I first did, had some say i've stretched the stoma, i dunno,  so again, beware and becareful cuz im proof that it will sneak back upon ya quick!!
