I'm home!
Hi, Jan! Today I am feeling better. The swelling in my hand has gone down some and that helps with typing (ha ha). We had nasty weather here all night and it was hard to sleep with the thunder and the weather radio warnings going off and my 9-year old snuck into bed with me (he is afraid of thunder). I am just sipping all my water and broth and feeling like a miracle!
Angy, it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. The nurses and techs were wonderful (except for that one I mentioned earlier, watch out for her). The doctors were all great (I had endocrinologists checking up on me, too), but my only disappointment is that we never met Dr. de la Torre one-on-one. We did meet him June 12 at the seminar, in our group setting, but I wanted to at least meet him before he operated on me. Anyway, his team is superb and caring. You'll meet his Bariatric Fellow, I forgot her name, but she came in daily to see me; he's also got assistants that will come in by the 4s and 5s to meet you and see how you are.
Do you have a surgery date yet??
Hi Patty! I must have missed that about the one tech. What happened? I have heard that from another one of his patients, that they never met him either. That is kind of a disappointment. But I know he is an excellent surgeon, so no worries. No surgery date yet. I did get my letter today, finally! saying that my info has been submitted, so that's a relief. I was beginning to wonder if they had even really submitted it. I guess I have been screwed around so much I have begun to expect it.
How long after surgery did they let you have water? When I had my appendix out I was so sick all day, then by the time I had got to the hospital, I was parched. Then had to go in for emergency surgery & they wouldn't let me have anything, not even ice, until the next day. It was Terrible!!!
Do you still have your drain?
I'm glad you're doing well. (((HUGS))) Angy
Anjy,
it wasn't a tech that was terrible to me, it was a NURSE and her name is Jessica and she works nights, like from 11 on. The night that I had my fever and threw up, she was in charge of me and she just wasn't helpful at all. I was in the bathroom crying, trying to clean up and she just gave me this cold washcloth and walked away. Water? I had that pink slurpy thing not long after, y'know the sponge thing? I can't remember how soon I had real water. Yep, I still have my drain, too, and carry it around in my pocket LOL
