Medicaid no longer covers BMI less than 40!

Missouri Bariatrics told me yesterday that they were just informed from MO Medicaid that they no longer cover Gastric Bypass for patients with BMIs below 40.  Even if you have co-morbidities!!!  Your BMI MUST be above 40.  Just thaught I wouldl share the info.   ~ Angy

that seems to be the majic number with everything, in fact most say you have to have a bmi above 40 be at least 100 pounds overweight and then have co=morbidities.  thanks for the sharing ....

Apparently they used to pay for it if you had a BMI of 35 if you had 2 or more comorbidities. or if your BMI was 40 w/o any comorbidities.  I don't know, that's just what they told me.
