July 8 is my date!!
I got my approval letter from Aetna yesterday. I called my doctor's nurse and she scheduled me for July 8th. Can't believe I finally got this far. Next Tuesday I start my liquid protein/water diet. Wednesday, I meet with the nurse for pre-op instructions and see the doctor for one last check up.
I started this adventure in December when I attended a seminar my doctor does to tell patients all about WLS. I was a little skeptical when I went and my husband was definitely against the surgery. That all changed after the seminar. My husband has been so supportive and encouraging.
I know the 2 week liquid diet will be tough, but I will keep my eye on the prize.
A co-worker is off on medical leave and I don't know when she will be back. I'm hoping it will be by July 7th. My supervisor indicated my surgery date could depend on if the person is back by then. I don't think I should have to put it off when there are 2 other people that can do the work. Neither of them are very busy. Hope it is't an issue.

My file was submitted June 4th. I emailed Aetna June 10 and was told I had been approved and would be receiving a letter in the mail. My letter arrived June 16th.
The letter indicates if you don't have the procedure on the date stated in the letter, you have to be precertified again.
The other two coworkers are more than willing to fill in, but the supervisor thinks we need that third person. She's a little stubborn and things need to be her way.

I'm so happy for you. If you have the sick time/vacation time due you you shouldn't let them push you around. I know we all need our jobs but do they know how very important to your health this surgery is? If it comes to it explain that you will be a healthier, more productive employee after your surgery and that you wnat to live your life and do you job the in the best possible way.
I'll be praying for you.
Hugs,
Lana

I looked at your page and WOW you look great. Your story is much like mine. I need to lose about 100 lbs. Some people tell me I don't look overweight enough to qualify for WLS. I'm pretty solid and weight more than I look, but my BMI is 46 and I have several of the co-morbidities.
You are a great success story and I hope I can do as well as you have.
