HELP!!!!! I am 4 1/2 months out and I think I'm just now experiencing my first stall.  I thought it was just because it was about time for my period but not sure if that's it or not.  I keep going up and down a few pounds every day and I'm getting really frustrated about it.  What do I need to do at this point to jump start the weight loss again?  Any Help will be much appreciated. Thanks,

Bev I've got the same problem.  For the last 2 weeks or so I have been bouncing between 182 and 184!  It is so frustrating.  Every night before going to bed I tell myself that I will not get on the scale the next morning, but I do!!! I have just started upping my exercise, protein and water to see if that helps! Let me know what helps you - we'll get through this! Renee

Hi Renee (surgery buddy) this is frustrating isn't it?  After losing a lot during the first 4 months then to all of a sudden stop losing it's discouraging.  I just got back from the YMCA and working with a personal trainer she showed me some machines to use to help me get back some strenght in my legs and she also showed me the cardio stuff and set me up on a workout program so maybe that will help?  I too need to up my protein and water intake I know that's important.  We just have to hang in there this too will pass.....I hope!

Bev,
You might try getting back to basics. I see you posting lots of tasty recipes and I know if I made all those I'd be very tempted to nibble on them. Maybe you're stronger than I am but you might try for a week or two to just do very bland basic stuff and see if that gives you a jump-start. You look so wonderful. I'm so proud of you.
Hugs,
Lana

also both of you should take a good look at the carbs in things that you eat.  Bev you are such a good cook and things like those blueberry muffins? one of them has almost 20 grams of carbs.  check everything you eat and try to keep the carb content low low low.   anything made with white stuff, flour, rice, potatoes and real sugar...we should stay far far away from them except on a very very rare occasion. and then only a small amount.  dont know what your protein levels are that you are getting in but you need at least 60 grams of your protein to be from a protein drink of some kind, either a powder mixed up or ready to drink ones.  and drink drink drink tha****er.

Jan, I know I make a lot of things but after I make them I don't eat much of it like those muffins I ate 1/2 of one and they were small haven't touched any more of them since I made them.  I will be more aware of the carb content in things and see if that helps?  When I do eat I eat like a bird and not very much of anything really.  What do you eat other than your protein drinks?  I got some of those veggie burgers that are low in fat and high in protein those are pretty good even cooked one on the grill the other day are things like that ok?  I do eat potatoes some times not a lot and not often but I do eat some maybe I shouldn't but I do like a baked potatoe here and there?

have you ever tried baked sweet potatoes? they are really good and lots better for you . there is nothing wrong with eating a baked potatoe once in awhile as long as it isnt every day and the biggest one you can find. really it is about portion control ,,,,size does matter lol  what i eat mainly consist of veggies really that is what i crave more than anything. green veggies.  i figure i have my protein in the protein drinks so why not have what i crave more than anything. ...some days i get too busy and only have the protein drinks ...will grab a couple of protein balls when i have them made up.... when i do eat it is usually at supper if i am fixing something that i love like shrimp lol. about the only meat that i can eat. is shrimp and ground beef....everything else just doesnt want to go down...once in a while i will have a piece of Mrs. Bairds sugar free bread...it really is good but i have to toast it most of the time too. my tummy has always been so picky... but then anything sugar free it loves and that is ok once in awhile but most sugar free stuff is still loaded with carbs or fat or something that isnt good for us.  not telling you to eat like me , far from it but just realize that what we eat now is just to keep our tummys feeling full not to be the only thing we eat , the protein drinks are the only protein that we can use all of it , anything else because of the malaborstion part of our surgery causes us to only be able to use about half of it. so if you eat something that has 20 gram of protein your body only uses about 10grams. there is no way on Gods green earth that you can eat enought to be able to get enough protein in your body a day that is why i say drink at least60 grams of your protein ....hope all of this rambling helps. ....it is a learning process all the time. Love and hugs. Jan
