My Seminar

I went to Dr Hornbostel's seminar yesterday.  Kinda disappointed that Medicare requires a six month documented diet before it agrees to eval for surgery.  That will put my surgery around the holidays  if I get a quick approval.  However I did find out that the documented diet is only as detailed as you doc requires, so I probably won't have to write down every thing I eat for six months.   Dr. H is an interesting man, very approchable.  I was very impressed.  I didn't realize that he refuses to do lap band procedures due to poor  outcome.  There is so much stuff to do, paperwork, psych eval et,. I hope these six months will fly by.  Thank goodness I've got you guys to help me stay focused and encouraged.   Looing forward to the first Lake Area Support Group meeting next Saturday.  It will be fun to actually meet some of you Hugs, Deb

Deb glad you went to the seminar , now you can get busy sitting up the supervised diet with your PCP , for a lot of people all that involves is going to your doctor once a month and for them to record that they talked to you about diet and exercise and recorded your weight each month.   Now at least you know how long it will be , better to get started now than wait till later. There isnt much recooperating time needed as far as the holidays go so that isnt much of an issue really unless you normally go skiing or something like that for the holidays lol.  Im glad that Angie is starting a support group there for you all. it really helps to have a support group. before , during and after surgery. ...

Dear Deb,

I know you are disappointed about the 6 month supervised diet-but the time will fly by and before you know it-your going to be going in for your surgery and your going to be in that last week-with so much to do!!! Or at least you will feel like there is so much to do! LOL.... Its frustrating-but I can tell you that we all know how you feel-that desperation-because we want the surgery YESTERDAY!! I remember having to lose over 40# before I was eligible for the RNY...And I was just sick about it, but the time did fly by (my wait was a yr due to several denials, ins changes and liquid diet for almost 3 months etc etc) and when I was frustrated-I got on here and posted-and all of our board, the loving people they are-helped me through it-and we WILL be here for you too! Support groups are awesome as well. Let us know if you need anything hon-and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers-Love, Janet
