Update on my appointments yesterday

Well, I had quite a full day of appointments yesterday as I saw the dietician, exercise physiologist and had my psych eval.  It was a very good day though as everyone was super nice and I am feeling more and more excited about surgery and even more sure that this is the right decision for me. First I saw Tricia, the exercise physiologist. She is so sweet! She came up with a plan that starts me out slow and works me up to 60 minutes of cardio 7 days a week. Man, that seems impossible now, but I keep thinking of how good it will feel once I work up to it and can actually do that hour. Next, I met Thelma, the dietician. She's great too. She talked about how I will need to eat afterward and that I should start eating high protein low carb now to get used to the food choices I'll be making for the rest of my life. We also talked about vitamins and protein supplements. Oh yah, she made me cry. Nothing bad. We were discussing non-food rewards for things and she asked me to think of something I'd like to do once I have lost the weight. I said I wanted to take my kids to the pool. Then I just started crying! My psych eval went well too. Bridget it really nice. We talked about my weight and health issues, my support system, and she suggested that I pursue some therapy for my social anxiety and depression so that once I have the surgery and experience food mourning, I will have somewhere to deal with that. I think it's a great idea and am going to call my husband's Employee Assistance Program today to get some help. I am also going to schedule my sleep study today! Well, that about sums it up. Today I am going to start eliminating caffeine from my diet. I've already given up soda so there's not much caffeine left other than my one cup of coffee in the morning and some iced tea in the afternoon. Shouldn't be too tough. Have a great day everyone! Those gals are just the greatest! I love Tricia and Thelma! They never make you feel bad or uncomfortable. They are just wonderful! Has Tricia had her baby yet? She must be due any day now!

Actually, yesterday was her first day back from maternity leave. She had the baby four weeks ago.

I was there on Wednesday morning, I may have walked right past you.  I saw Tricia at 0900 and Thelma at 0930.  They are the best!   I can't say enough nice things about that entire team of people.  I'm glad that I've had this time prior to surgery to work into eating protein firs****ch how I take in liquids, and start an exercise regimen.  I have more one visit with the both of them around Memorial Day and I'm through with my 90 days!  I'm making the most of my last 24 days!  I'm happy for all of us that move our lives forward and decide to do something for ourselves.
