All day today I have been having pain in my new tummy---I ate some potato soup and it stayed down.  I've had two glasses of milk and did fine with those.  I've been feeling neauseous all day and thought I needed to eat to stop itso I had 1 1/2 ounces of pork and my stomach is cramping something horribly.  I don't know if I should go to the ER or not I don't know what's going on---I've never had this before so I have NO idea what it is.  I do know that I did not take any medicine for the past two days including vitamins is this why???  Please help should I go to the ER???

Do you have an after hours contact phone number for your surgeon?  Does your surgeon have an answering service?  I would call the surgeon or someone of the staff, if you have the number.  If you don't have a contact number, call their office and see if an answering service picks up.. not a machine or voice mail, an actual answering service, they can page your dr.  If those two options fail, prehaps a call to the ER is in order.  Call your local ER, tell them your history and what is going on and ask if they reccommend a visit tonight.

Hopefully you're better this morning and/or were able to get a hold of your doctor or in to the ER.  But some thoughts on what it could be:   You could also have some food stuck in your stoma - that would definitely cause pain.  Milk could also cause some problems if you are now lactose intolerant, which is very common after we have this surgery to become lactose intolerant, if you weren't before surgery.

Thank you all soooo much for the advice---I took a shower and went to bed and this morning I'm feeling a little better it's not nearly as painful as last night---I think I'm gonna stick to clear liquids today and see if things go back to normal--and take my MEDS!!!  I'll let you all know how I feel.  I'm also going to call my PCP and ask for some kind of stomach scan upper GI something to see if things are good in my new tummy.  I'll keep ya posted!!  Thanks again for the advice.
