O.K let me say before I even get started. I will call the dr on monday, I already called Marjie on friday and sat.  Why is this happening, everytime I eat or drink, sometimes hr.s later, if I lie down it comes back up, I don't feel queesy or anything , but it just starts coming up. The first time this happened was when I moved to 2 oz. instead of 1, Also , when i called Marjie it was beecause I was sliming when I lie down, she thought it was a vitamin deficiency. Now I realize the only reason it was clear was because I wasn't eating anything yet. Tonight was the final straw, I ate maybe 2 tb. of "deviled" egg around 6 pm. around 10.00pm I ate a small slice of cheese. 1 am I went to bed. AT 3:00 i AM PUKING, JUST DISGUSTING, NO FEELING OF NAUSEA, IT JUST STARTED COMING UP IN MY SLEEP(sorry caps) I am coughing and it is there, I drank a little water no more than an ounce to get it out of my throat, tried to lie down and as soon as I started to drift off , I am choking on it. Should I just not put anything in my mouth? I am so sick of this, my throat still burns, i'm afraid to drink, and I am so tired, but don't want to lie down. WHAT IS HAPPENING???

Right now I feel overly full, I took a sip of water at 3 am, and nothing else since 1 am. Right at this min, I am burping up "stuff" , since I am sitting up it goes back down, but how long does food or even liquids take to digest/drain? How long after eating or drinking before you should lie down? I have all these disgusting vitamins etc that I have to get down, and I don't want to get dehydrated, but I think I am not going to put ANYTHING AT ALL in my mouth until this feeling goes away.

Could be any number of things:  a stricture, possibly preventing the food from passing through like it should, thus why it's coming back up.   Are you taking any Prevacid, Prilosec or anything like that to prevent ulcers?  Sounds a lot like a reflux as well.  Are you feeling sick otherwise?  Like a flu or anything?  Call the doctor tomorrow and get in to get checked, if you absolutely can not keep down fluids today, and it's been a day or so since you have been able to - then you may need to go in to the ER or urgent care TODAY to get some IV fluids.  Seriously - you don't want to get dehydrated.

Okay, first let me state I have absolutey zero medical experience. Susy honey, it almost sounds to me like your stopper might be busted. Don't you love my medical terminology??? I know that we have a valve of some sort at the top of our stomach that is sposed to stop stuff coming back up. I vote with everyone else. Go back to clear liquids, try to sleep in a recliner maybe where you are semi-upright, and call Dr. H on Monday. If you are still unable to keep fluids down by lunch, I'd head to urgent care for a bag or 2. I DO know about dehydration, being ex-army, and you canNOT let yourself get there. You are still post-op and your body needs every ounce to heal. Keep us posted!

I KNOW....you're going to call monday....in the last info seminar/support group that doc lead he was talking about how small he makes the opening into the stomach...."as big as a mcdonalds straw"  blah blah blah....but then he added that occasionally pts have to be dilated because it isn't letting anything through....he described it as a VERY SIMPLE procedure...something like when you had your scope....they make it slightly bigger by stretching it somehow and then send you on your way...this may be what you need....in the meantime....i would sip sip sip teeny tiny amounts...not even an ounce at a time....make it take 15 min to get an ounce down so that maybe at a trickle the fluids will go through....are you peeing?  That will be a good way to tell if you are hydrated....also suck on ice....SLOW intake is going to be the way to go....and i wouldn't attempt to EAT anything at all...pureed or not.....I sure hope it is something simple and that he can fix it in a snap....take care and let us know how things turn out.....

Yesterday I was having a tightness in my lungs , I had to buy an inhaler to breathe, I think I possibly aspirated some of the liquid that had come up the night before. I do not take any anti acids or anything like that.  It does feel like some sort of reflux, though I have never had those issues before. I am "peeing" a small amt.I think normal for the amt of fluids, the real problem is when i am lying down, when i am up, it's seems i am full for a long time, i think that is by design, but i don't feel queezy or anything or pain. It sounds kind of like amy said, "broken stopper" I know things are passing through when i'm up. Yesterday after eating i took a fairly long walk (for me) to get things moving, and had nothing by mouth for at least an hour and a half to 2 hr.s before i went to bed. Today I am going to drink only 1 oz. at a time , no solids, and nothing 3 hr.s before bed, i hope that is enough time. thanks all, susy
