I Have A Question For Dr. Hornbostel's Patients....

I am just wondering how long it takes to get a surgery date? Today, I went to the Nutritionist that my PCP referred me to. I have a sleep study scheduled for Next Friday night and my Psych Eval should be faxed to my Dr by next week ( sometime ). So, I know I will have my 1st appt scheduled really soon, but I dont know how long it takes to get that appt and then how long to actually get the surgery date? May will be my 3rd month out of the 6 months of required Dr. visits... Can anyone help me with this or tell me how long it took with them? I am very anxtious and excited!! Thanks!~Lo

It really depends on your insurance.  Once I got the referral from my PCP I got an appt with Dr H, but he won't see you until you go to the info seminar...have you done that?   Anyway...once I saw Dr H he had to send in a request to my insurance to approve me for WLS...Once they approved me for surgery and the Dr received the letter saying I was approved they called me to schedule.  Having said that I got my approval within 7 days of seeing Dr H and him requesting surgery for me...but that has everything to do with my insurance company response time....so to sum this up...if your insurance company is slow about approving it will take longer to get a date.  My date was within 6 weeks of my approval.  He is a busy guy.

i went to the seminar in feb and then i had to do psycis text be4 i could mske appt and then my appt wasnt till Aug then surgery in Oct...so for me it was 9 months which seemed like a long time but it flew by fast and worth the wait if he is busy

I went to the seminar in March.  I had my first appointment in May, and was denied by insurance and with the help of Dena and my friends and family I sent in an appeal packet in August and My surgery date was November 5.  Dr. Hornbostel is WONDERFUL!!!!
