46 years ago today
The greatest women in the world gave birth to a child.
If in your life you had the opportunity to meet this women she would have changed your life. She was the type of person who when you needed someone to talk to she was there. She would listen without prejudgice, without forming an opinion of you, with empathy in her eyes, she would listen. She would hold you if you needed it, cry with you if you needed it. She was a rock. She would listen. When you had talked it all out and where silent, she would ask, "Do you want my opinion?" If you said yes, she she would tell you what she thought. She would do it lovinly, politely and without any falsehoods and straight forward. If you said, "No not really, I just needed to talk.", she would be fine with that. She would hold your hand and be there to listen.
She gave refuge to all her childrens friends who needed time to get their heads together and go home. She would be kidded that she ran a home for wayward children. She gave her heart and asked for nothing in return. There was always someone sleeping on the couch or floor at her house, but when all was said and done, the always went home to their parents. She had a way of helping you to see, home was where you should be and working it out was what needed to be done.
She was a mother, a wife, a friend. She was a great lady. She lived a very hard life. She raised 5 children pretty much on her own. She suffered from a heart condition that caused her to have open heart surgery 4 times over the course of her short life. She suffered 4 major strokes and countless heart attacks. Through it all she was always there. These things did not get her down they did not deter her from living a life and being there for her kids and family. She found happiness where ever she was and endured.
She passed away at the age of 64. She is survived by her 5 children and countless other people she helped along the way. She is remembered with a smile. No one who ever knew her could say anything bad about her. All you ever hear when someone talks about her is, "I loved her so much she helped me so much. I miss her. She was a great lady."
I'm sure by now you are asking yourself, why are you telling me about this great lady? Because 46 years ago today she gave birth to a child, and that child is me. On your birthday I know it's time for you to celebrate. But I prefer to remember her. The great lady who brought me into this world and set my feet on the path I live today. I love her with all my heart and soul!
You should have met my Mom. She was a Great Lady. Helen or to everyone who knew her, weather she gave birth to them or not, Mom.
Thanks for all you did Mom, I miss you each and everyday, I will love you for the rest of time!
Your middle child,
Eileen
