so tomorrow i am suprising my hubby and taking him to SDC just him and i.  I lined out a baby sitter for kaylee and thought since tom loves ireland so much that this would be awesome for him to go to.  plus now that i can walk SDC we bought season passes.  question is.  i am 5'9 and about 315 now and want to try to ride the roller coaster.  the one that goes upside down.  my fear is that i will not fit and they will tell me i am to big.  granted i know that i am a hell of a lot smaller now then ever but i fear the thought of them saying sorry cant ride.  should i try it???  i dont want to be crushed all day b/c of being to big for that.  i know you all can understand.  also tom likes the cave there.  i have not been in it since i was litterally about 10 years old.  and even then i was to big to go through some of the small spaces.  i am sure they have opened it up.  but i am just scared.  like above that they will say sorry you have to turn around and go back you are to big.  am i being dumb here?  i know that i am smaller but i am just so scared and i want my hubby to have a great day and do things like rides that i can share with him.  need input.  thanks way in advance. britt

I love SDC.  I don't know about the roller coaster but as for the cave inside the park, don't go near it.  I've been in there twice and it was awful.  There are many very small spaces to squeeze thru.  I was probably 50 lbs. lighter and had trouble.  Both times it was a fast trip thru there.  I love caves but hate that one. Have a great time.

Britt, I've been wondering where you were!

The SDC cave is very dirty and muddy, with all this rain, I'd think you'd come out filthy.  We went through it years ago and I barely fit in it.  I was not any where near as large as I am now back then.  I had on new tennis shoes and just ruined them.  No matter what, that black mud (bat dung??) would not bleach out of them.  As far as the rollercoaster.  They have a scale that weighs people as they file in line to ride.  You know the guy that stands there and looks like he's counting or greeting people...he's actually looking at a scale.  Or it used to be like this anyway....many things have changed since back then.

Nope it's still a scale...they have it on the waterbogan ride. Talk about bing embarrassed!!! Last year I could ride the bogan ALONE with my then 3 year old...and of course the ride coordinator was this little thin mint teeny bopper. UGH!!! I guess I'm jst used to caves though. With living in Missouri and having a husband whom I am CONVINCED is either part bat or part cave fish, I've been in quite a few tight spaces. I agree completely though about the mud and yuck cause of the rain. It kind of slipped my mind that we've been flooded for awhile. I wonder if they'll even have the cave OPEN with al the recent weather. Everything's still way above flood stage and I remember last year they had it shut for like 2 weeks in the spring cause of that.

This is too weird... My hubby and I are going to SDC the first of May.  I want to ride the rides sooo bad(its that inner child in me! LOL) I love them.  I am at 274 as of today and Im also afraid that if I try to ride the rides I will get rejected, but Im thinking of it as I will never know unless I try.  Yes it will be upsetting but that will give me more encouragment to lose even more!!! Good luck and let me know how you did? PLEASE!!! Have fun and enjoy yourselves! candy

As far as the roller coasters go...I'd stay away. I did fire In The Hole and was squueezed so tight I could hardly breath and THAT  was at 250lbs. The caves cake though. I did it at 325 or so. There were a couple squeezes, but, nothing unmanageable. Most the other rides you are good for tho. Grand Expo is out, roller coasters are out, everything else in...oh wait, you can do the spinning bowls at the expo. My hub and I have season passes and take our boys almost monthly so I'm WELL  aquainted with the park lol. I've even been in those blasted spinning balloons at the kid's area down past the photo shop, and I'm over 300. HAVE FUN!!!!!!

You could call SDC and ask them about their size restrictions, small and large.  They don't know who you are, and chances are, the person answering the phone wont be speaking to you once you're there..  Get answers straight from the source, don't rely on hear-say when you can get REAL answers from the people who work there everyday.  I wish you the best, though!  Hey, if it doesn't work out this time... It just might the next!  After all, you ARE melting. Good luck! Christine

Wildfire has a seat right outside their area.  You can try that and see if you fit.  If you can ride Wildfire, you should be okay on all of the others.

Britt... First of all I want to say CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss thus far... you are doing a WONDERFUL job...   and that is so sweet that you are treating your hubby this way!!!! With all that said,  I can SO relate to your post...  I am a theme park aficiando and I absolutely LOVE coasters... (our vacation last year was spent traveling to various theme parks just to ride coasters!!!).... Honestly...stay away from the cave ...and honey... I'm being honest... stay away from the coasters.  Fire in the Hole is the most forgiving but it has a tiny little molded seat with a more forgiving lap bar that comes down.  You might be able to fit in this ride depending on how you carry your weight..... The other coasters are tight tight tight... molded bucket type seats with the lap restraints or over the shoulder hard restraints that have to come down and over your tummy and click into place...  When I first started my weight loss journey I weighed right about where you were at.... and I couldn't ride them...  My weight was fairly distributed...with of course my belly being a obest persons belly.  They couldn't get the harnesses or belts down far enough to click the mechanisms and I was so freaking embarrassed.... I'm not say this to make you feel badly.... I SO understand where you are coming from...  it won't be too long (especially since you have Stickets) before you are screaming your head off on these rides...  POWDER KEG is freaking awesome....    Go, have fun and walk your tushy off.....
