What Vitamins do you take?

I have some of the liquid calcium here and think it's okay, but, even though it lists 1200 mg of calcium citrate, only 252 mg of that is elemental calcium.   Whereas my 630 mg calcium citrate + D pills that I get from Walmart, that dissolves in under 2 minutes in water, all 630 mg of that is elemental calcium:  and boatloads cheaper.     BUT, I can easily swallow these pills, and yes, they are pretty big.  I haven't tried the liquid B complex, but may try that as well.  I tend to agree, if it's good quality ingredients in the liquid form, it's much more likely to get absorbed, because part of the work is already done AND it's the form and quantity and such that we really need.

Yes, I take Tender Iron from vitalady.com  It's carbonyl iron.  Iron is a HUGE deal.  And from my research, iron is another one, a lot like B12, that we're just going to have a very very hard time as post-ops absorbing.  This is why so many post-ops end up doing infusions and I was over 3 years out before I got to that point and I was taking iron from day one.  So it takes a while before it shows up in labs.    My research shows that the majority of iron, in a normal digestive system, is absorbed in the upper part of the small intestine, with only smaller amounts then absorbed farther down in the small intestine.   Well, we no longer have the upper part of the small intestine, so just like the issue we have with protein and how our digestive systems were originally designed to work one way, and absorb certain nutrients in certain areas - we've gone in and changed the whole thing:  same issue here with iron.  We can absorb some, a little, apparently, but not nearly what we used to, should, or need to; because of the bypass part of our surgery.   This is why so many post-ops, a bit further out, have serious issues with iron deficiency.  It's not the new post-ops, but those further out like I am where this starts showing up.

Traci: How many of these Tender Iron do you take daily?  Do you also take stool softeners? Thanks for your help, Debbie D.

I'm taking 6 Tender Iron daily at present. Yes I take a stool softener and 2 magnesium citrate daily (helps with constipation).  I also drink my water, am active and eat fiber foods (like raisin bran or oatmeal, salads, etc...) as well.
