Dietician/Physiologist Visit

Thank goodness I showed a loss of almost 3 lbs. today.  My visit with Thelma at Dr. Price's office was very positive.  Tricia, the exercise guru, is very nice but she really pushes exercise.  She wants me doing 45 minutes per day 7 days a week by our next visit.  I have a bad knee and it's difficult to walk so exercising 45 minutes a day is really tough.  I work out at the Y and do the elipitical and recumbent bike.  I also walk as much as possible.  Monday I will be starting water aerobics and I hope that will really help my knees.  I don't mean to whine.  I know good eating habits and an exercise plan are a necessity.  Even God rested one day a week.  I'm going to do my best to do what she asks. Thelma explained the diet 2 weeks before surgery.  I knew it was liquid protein for 2 weeks prior to surgery, but didn't know there's no coffee, tea, popsicles, SF Jello or anything but protein drinks and water.  It will be tough but it will be worth it.  She said if you don't follow those instructions, Dr. Price will not do the surgery. Only one more month with the diet and exercise program and my paperwork will be submitted to the insurance compan. Jo

Way to go Jo!  My first 30 days wasn't that great and it showed when I stepped on the scales this morning.  Tricia is a mover and shaker even while about to deliver a baby.  I have to exercise some judgement as well as exercising the body.

After meeting with Thelma this morning, I was reminded to not drink with meals that I'm having.  I've just about cut out my lunch diet pop and I'm down to a 1/2 c of coffee in the morning which is very good for me.   Thelma is so nice and patient.

I have to say though, Trisha and Thelma are very kind.  They are very good representatives for Dr. Price's office.   My last visit with them will be May 27th.  Hopefully, Aetna will approve me right away.  Our new insurance plan begins July 1st and my company is continuing with Aetna.   Glad things are going well for you.

My appointments were 9:00 with Thelma and 9;30 with Tricia.  Maybe we were there at the same time.  Both Thelma and Tricia are really nice.  They are not judgmental at all.  I was a little afraid they would be on me if I didn't lose or lost very little weight.  My last visit is April 30th.   I'm having trouble not drinking with a meal.  I have given up all caffeine and diet Coke.   I also have Aetna insurance.  Thelma said it takes 2 to 4 week to get approval.  She forecasts my surgery date as June.  Sure hope so.  My GDs are in a dance recital at the Music Hall on June 20th and 21th and my SD said I can't have surgery until after the recital.  Believe me I won't wait for the recital to be over.  They video tape the recital so I can always watch it later. I need my progress reports for 2006 and 2007.  One doctor I wanted 2006 from lost my file.  Guess I will need to contact my allerist for 2006.  My new primary doctor has my weight for 2007.  All I need after that is my doctor to write a letter saying I'm healthy enough for surgery. Keep me posted on your progress. Jo

My appointments were at that time too!  Were you there with your spouse? Dance recital time is dreadful.  My youngest daughter who is 24 years old, danced at a very early age through her high school graduation.  She now teaches a night or two a week.  She loves the little girls.   Luckily, I've been going to the same medical practice for along time.  I went down the list first thing and obtained reports to five years back.  I had a sleep study a couple of years ago and many other tests.   I told my PCP when I saw her about a month ago that I needed something from her stating I was medically sound to have surgery.  She pulled out her script pad and wrote my name, and then I was medically and physically sound to have surgery.  I mailed it to Karla.  I've not heard back whether or not it's acceptable.

Yes, my husband was with me.  You must have been sitting across from me.   My 11 year GD is on the dance team.  I sew so I'm the alterations queen when it comes to costumes, not my favorite thing to do.  Emily has 8 costumes and the 4 year old only has one.  Missing the recital is definitely frowned on by the parents.   I went to the same doctor from 2002 until last year but I refused to weigh in 2006 and 2007.  My OBGYN saw me 2006 but they lost my file.  I no longer see the allergist so Iwas hoping to not have to request the file from him but I'll do whatever I have to do.  I need to have everything in by the time I see Thelma and Tricia for the last time. How much exercise does Tricia have you doing? Jo

Hey guys! My last appointment with Thelma is on April 9th! I am done with Tricia, She also wanted me to exercise 7 days a week for 45 minutes! That is really really hard to do! I have lost 4 pounds at my last visit. I do not think I have been doing very well lately. I have been sick this week and my period is also this week...so I have been grazing a little bit and not making the best food choices. I am scared to death about the two week liquid diet. I am thinking about physically locking my fridge and pantry so I can not get in to them. I am hoping to have my surgery by May or June! I can not wait to get it over with. My family is so excited for me! They know that I will be so much healthier and happier! I think my mother-in-law will even pay for my co-pay. That is how bad she wants me to have this done! Good Luck everyone, and please keep me posted! We should all get together and exercise together! There is strength in numbers!!

Way to go Cassie!  It's coming up so quickly.  What, 2 weeks for your last visit!  Just think, by the 4th of July and then by Labor Day, will be weight milestones! Donna
