Hello all and I hope your Easter went well.  It was my twins 7th birthday today.  As a matter of fact My first twin is now seven and my second is seven in15 seconds.  WOW motherhood is great.  Well let me get to subject ok.  I want to purchase some new spring and summer clothes however I do not know when I will have surgery, seminar isin May for me.  I do not know turn around time and would hate to get clothes and then they get to big too fast.  Any advice, all fo my spring and summer clothes are either holey or ratty looking.  I never had a reason to get nice clothes for these two lovely seasons.  Pathetic isn't it. LOL Thanks again, Kerri

My Easter was great!  On buying new clothes, I would only by a few new things like tops and pants that have a draw string or sweat pants.  I had my surgery March 8, 2007 and the first week after the surgery I lost 14 pounds.  Shortly after that I was loosing 2-3 lbs./week.  I learned to purchase clothes in 'waves" .  Every 10-12 lbs I loose a dress size.  I was an 18-20w and now I am 14-16 Misses.  The last 16's I purchased 2-3 months ago are starting to get loose on me.  I purchased a size 14 on Friday and they fit  nice (they have a little stretch in them.   So pace yourself and don't by a lot of clothes at one time.  I would also check out second hands stores because you don't want to invest a lot of money in clothes only for them to get too big in 1-2 months.

Kerri just keep in mind that what ever you by for this summer you wont be able to wear next summer. ok? Maybe it would be better to find some things at resale shops or Salvation Army or somewhere like that , you will be surprised about some of the buys you can get there. Most wls patients love these places because after surgery you change sizes so fast and sometimes skip sizes altogether. lol It is fun and exciting but hard on the budget if you bought all new with each size.  Good luck and hope you get a surgery date soon.

I think I am going to wear a lot of those really simple cotton summer dresses this summer.   I see them in clothing ads all over the place, plus if you wanted to, they'd be easy to make.  They are easy to wear around the house, plus dress up really easy with a cute pair of sandals.  I am thinking that if you didn't choose a tight fitted style, you could wear one of these dresses a lot longer than a shorts outfit.  Just my two cents.... I would make sure most of the stuff has stretch and drawstrings.  It also helps to buy just a few things but make sure they are mix and match.  I had surgery in January.  I am still wearing  my shirts, they are pretty big on me.  My granny snatched my t-shirt from me on Thursday.  She said she was tired of looking at me and my tired shirts.  I have them in every color.  I have bought some jeans though.  My old ones don't even stay up with a belt anymore.  I am not even going to attempt to buy summer clothes till we get closer.  I am currently wearing size 16 but they are starting to get a lil loose.

I have been racking my brain on what I'll wear in the hospital.  I have nice pretty PJ's but they are nylon/silk type fabric and I get sooo hot sleeping in them.  I don't like short gowns.  At home I sleep in long cotton gowns.  My abdomen is so big it is not comfortable to sit-down in those boxer type long pants the rest of the world is wearing....  I'm thinking of just packing my long 'moo-mo's' I ordered from Lane Bryant a while back and wearing a pair of shorts underneath.  I could roam the halls in that (even if it is badly wrinkled) and when they check my scope sites, I'd at least have my underwear covered.

I amy have to cut up the sleeve and shoulder seam if I want to change gowns because of the heart monitor...but I don't care, I can't get out of these 'moo-moo phase' fast enough!

I'm so ready to be able to wear the styles that everyone else does!  Those long cotton boxer pants look sooo comfy on other people!

April 28th just needs to get here and pass- done and over with- Im ready to get this show on the road.  I've read and studied so much my hair hurts-

From another newbie that reads more than she post-

I love resale shops!  I still shop at them quite a bit, not only for my children, but for me as well.  I mean, why not?  Saves a ton of money.  When I was rapidly losing, I would go to the Goodwill Store or something like that and just get a few things to hold me while I was in that size.  I just washed clothes a lot.  Then I would shop again the next month or so and buy more.  Actually, I wore some things big because I liked that they were big.
