HELP! Need a Dr. in the St. Louis Metro. Area

Who will refer me for bariatric surgery.  My primary care does not believe in weight loss surgery.  My BMI is over 49 and I need a Dr. to at least get the process going.  My healthcare provider gave me 5 names and they all are not taking new patients.  Thanks for any help.

my Dr. is Dr. Eakin.  I'm not sure if any of colleges or him are taking new patients, but its worth a try.  He is in Glen Carbon.

I just had my lap-band surgery done by Dr. Follwell and Dr. Richardson. They are connected to the baracteric unit at St. Alexis Hospital. It is about 10 minutes away from the Arch. They are very good and will make sure that you are comfortable in doing whatever procedure you would like. You can look up some more info about them by going to www.NewStart.com . I hope this helps you!  Let me know if you have any other questions!!  P.S. I would NOT recommend you going to Dr. Wagner. He is one of the doctors there, but is not very trustworthy and doesn't work with Dr. Follwell and Dr. Richardson.

Hello! I have just started the process of getting approved fore weight loss surgery and I went to a seminar by Dr. Wagner. I have been attempting to do research before my consultation and I came across the posting from March -- I'm curious as to why you would NOT recommend Dr. Wagner? And honestly I was wondering why he is listed as one of 3 surgeons at the New Start center but didn't ever seem to give one of the lectures. Can you provide me with any info? Tracy in St. Louis

Dr. Van Wagner did my surgery.  I was very pleased with him!!!

I had Dr. Richardson from the Newstart Program and he is great I was told about him through a friend who had the RNY and she highly recommended him!  So Im doing the same for you! they work one on one with your Insurance company to try to get you through... I called October 15, 2007. I had my RNY February 5, 2008.  He's great!!!!!!!!!!!!
